I have Lightroom set up now and have tried using it for some of these next photos. I have found that it takes me 10x longer to get the photo where I want it as opposed to using Bridge. Maybe my pc is too slow. Maybe I am using it wrong, but exporting each individual file to a folder and opening it in Photoshop seems tedius as compared to how Bridge drops it right in Photoshop to save as JPEG from RAW format. Is there a faster way in LR?
great shots!
I know what you mean.. that's EXACTLY how I felt when I first started using Lightroom. It was extremely confusing at first but once you grab ahold of the workflow you'll appreciate LR.
You don't have to export to a folder and open it from PS. From LR, you can simply right click on an image (from your catalog) and hit "edit in Photoshop". After you do your edits in PS, there's an option that says "Save and return to Lightroom". Your image will be saved as a TIF and you can continue editing in LR. (you also have the option to save as PSD if you like... to preserve layers)
The point of LR is so that you won't have to use PS for basic image edits- everything is built right in. Another advantage of LR is its non-destructive workflow since you're actually working with copies and not the originals.
Bridge is just an image browser.. LR has "Bridge" built right in.. it's called the Filmstrip. It's confusing at first but once you learn it, it's actually awesome.
Also, as for accidentally "leaving" your ISO at 1000, I found a solution to that... Everytime before I start to shoot, I remember this word.. "WIMP'. It stands for W = white balance, I = ISO, M = Metering, P = Program mode. These are the things I need to check before shooting. Just my own little trick.
have fun
