I might have missed this, but what is the length of the 80 watt T5s

If you are talking about the standard 80w (not overdriven on IceCaps) then they are 60"... If you run a 48" (54w) on an IceCap ballast then you will overdrive them to about 80w... Same goes for the 60" 80w running on an IceCap ballast, you will get around 120w or so I think...

Does anyone stock 72" T-5 bulbs, and can you get them in the USA

As far as I know the T5's only come in the following :

24" (24w)
36" (39w)
48" (54w)
60" (80w)

The T5's can be overdriven on IceCap ballasts to get about 1.5x more output, in doing so you will lessen the life of the bulbs...

24" (24w) * 1.5 = 36w
36" (39w) * 1.5 = 58w
48" (54w) * 1.5 = 80w
60" (80w) * 1.5 = 120w

Iwan,

Not sure if I missed it throughout this 22 page thread, but how much water flow do you have in this system?

Good question....I am also not sure if I wrote this point: 15'000 liters/hour

Iwan - superb photos again!!

Do you sell frags? - The reason I ask is my mother is in Basel at the moment and will be flying to england mid March - so maybe something could be arranged?

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon

Yes, I sell frags!
Because my corals grow strongly, I have to sell fragments again and again.
If your mother is in Basel, we can arrange something for certain.

Regards,

Iwan

Iwan - superb!!:D

My tank will be the son of Iwans':strooper:

How far are you from Basel?

I'll PM you with my email and perhaps we can discuss what is available that way - or if you want to make our american cousins green:lol: post here..... joke.

Wow. If my math is correct, that is less than a 18X turnover rate.

3900 GPH flow / 220 gallons = 17.7X turnover.

What pumps are you using?

18x is not a lot really if that is display turnover for his SPS tank... On my 600gal if I ran my 6x Tunzes full out I would be at 42x (not counting the Dart as the return) and my tank will not even be an SPS dominate tank...

Some people are pushing over 100x in SPS tanks...

The "Wow" was for how little of flow this is for an SPS system. I've got 5300 GPH (2 ea 6080s + Iwaki 30 return) sustained in my 150 gallon + a Tunze Wavebox.

I'm shocked at how well his system looks with this small amount of flow.

It also depends on what type of acros you got in there. My Tables and the Purple Monster loves to get flow right on them 24/7.As long as you have good flow threw out the system they will do fine. Some acros hate to flow on them period. But most SPS corals, like a lot of water movement. It seems water movement,is more on the higher end of the scale.Than turn over rate, threw out the system. My water movement is by far a lot higher, than my turn over rate. And have no problems at all.

Doh, sorry about that, I was thinking the "WOW" was for 18x LOL... When I reread your post above "that is less than 18X turnover rate"... I get what you mean now :) after pointing it out to me...

Basel? Now that is one place I'd never think I'd read about here on Reef Central. I grew up in Basel, and miss it a lot.

Iwan, your tank continues to be spectacular. The colors are almost pastels, which is really unusual to me.
