My JBJ 28gal Nano Build Thread

So I found one of those new Bali Deepwater Acro's at my LFS today, I MUST have it. Unfortunately, I am completely out of room in my tank, so looking to my RC following for advice.

My thoughts are to scrap either the:
1) ORA green stylo
2) ORA hyacinth birdsnest
3) Red millepora (at top left)
4) Ditch the bottom left zoas and place it in front of my yellow mille

Thoughts?

Wow, very well done sirs! By far the least highlighted piece in my tank, although in person it's quite nice. Replacement found. Others please feel free to comment.

On top of that, you guys have crashed my photobucket account by mid-month, exceeding the 10GB monthly free allowance. So it's either I pay or all my photos go down. That's a bummer!! I guess no updates until next month!

I've been a flickr subscriber for years, I'll try to switch to there but I normally save that for my artistic side. Don't be surprised if you get a lot of XXX when you try to look around here.

Thanks a million for looking though, it's only bittersweet!

Stock returns, they are more then adequate turnover rate in the tank. The most important part is the flow in the actual display, which the MP10 is very capable of handling.

Do you have a dedicated pump for your chiller and phosbans, or are those running off the two main pumps?

This might sound blasphemous but if it were me I'd consider the clam that is in the rock work and place it there. You have two other really nice clams at the bottom and eventually it will be to big anyways. Just a thought.

Blasphemy!! I honestly thought the same thing for a minute though. But all things considered, that's my first clam and although it doesn't look like much in the FTS it's actually quite stunning!

It looks funky in the FTS because of the way it decided to lay on its side, they always look better topdown. And its just about full grown, they only hit 6" for crocea. The derasa down in the sand is the one that needs to go soon, they grow way too fast and large for this tank!

I understand that you would want keep it as it is very nice. Maybe it's time to upgrade the tank size as you mentioned earlier, could use some company over on reef discussion LOL.

Chiller runs off one of the main pumps, reactors off a dedicated MJ400. All the details are a few pages back.

Sorry, I was trying to go through the thread to find that info without having to ask you but there's a lot of info to sort through and I guess I overlooked it. :) I'm getting close to setting up my JBJ 28 pretty soon and I'm hoping to emulate your success by using the same or similar equipment. All I'm really missing now is a cooler, a controller, and a doser, but I think I'm just going to go with kalk in the ato for a while before getting into real dosing.

Thanks for all the info!

No worries, I know it's a lot to look through and I'm happy to offer input anytime! Especially for a fellow Houstonian!! :)

FWIW, I dosed manually for about a year before getting the dosing pump :)

I forgot to mention, if you run out of bandwidth with flickr or photobucket or whatever, you can always upload images to www.imgur.com which pretty much gives you unlimited bandwidth.

Yeah, I got a warning message on Photobucket that I'm about to exceed my monthly bandwidth limit (10gb) and it's only halfway through the month!

I pay for Flickr already, so I'll just start uploading my pics there where I won't have a limit.

I haven't checked on your tank in many months, and WOW, what progress! It's the best ever. I'm pretty much just a lurker here on RC.

Did you ever set your radion to natural mode?

I just got a Radion for my 3 month old RSM 130. I have it on full blast on natural mode for 12 hours/ day. No clouds or storms. 50% for the first week and 100% for the last two, no problems
