The little rockpile/reef I made behind my condo has really exploded with life..It's been a while since I snorkeled it and I was really surprised today to see all these fish.. This is only 3 feet of water, about 10 feet from shore. It's been hanging in there since the beginning of Summer.,Anyway, here's the pics.

My neighbors on the beach must think I'm nuts , walking with all these rocks in my arms and dropping them in my spot , lol... I'm easily entertained though. It's pretty cool though, I see more people snorkling my spot, so at least I gave them something to check out. There must have been at least 100 lookdowns on my rockpile. It was really cool.

Na, Frags wouldn't last long, it's too shallow and too warm, plus when the waves start picking up , the rocks get knocked down..it's constant maintenance to keep it there in tact.

Thats awesome bro... when I lived on the beach I always wanted to do that but never got the chance... I think zoas have a chance to do pretty good in there, but got to watch out with those triggers ;)

If you live that close couldn't you hook up one big pump to constantly circulate the water? Then you could keep what ever you wanted. Think of the grow out potential. You could start a frag business since coral grow much faster in the ocean.

If I am not mistaken the beach / ocean is owned by the city/state. He would have to get a permit and that will likely be impossible to do considering the beach/water is most likely public or private to renters/owners. I don't think a circulation pump is even necessary, I think its pretty cool the way it is, but if would definitely be cool if you had some type of protection for it...

hey steve, i was talking with a kid on the team/school about good snorkeling spots and he lives like right next to you i think and i told him about the man-made reef by 193rd st and he was like yea i have a man-made reef behind my apartment its about ten feet from shore!! LMAO

pump? the current in the water is a billion times better than a pump. Though it would be cool to see a little coral population grow out in the ocean. pics are awesome btw

lol, tell him yours truly created that... glad he found it. It's cool seeing people snorkel it.
