My Mated Pair of "Misbar" Gold Stripe Maroon Clownfish Have Arrived!

SkullV

They Got My Number
Got back from Beloit, WI a few hours ago from picking up my new clownfish. They are a mated pair of "Misbar" GSM Clownfish who have been laying a clutch every 9-10 days. Got them acclimated and into their temporary home (a section of my 55) while their forever home is cycling.

Please post pics of their permanent home when you get them moved in. How long will we/they have to wait?

They are out and about today in their temp housing, I just hope they start eating. I tried some of the flake that I feed my other fish and the previous GSMs I had but they didn't take it. I'm going to go pick up some pellets today since that's what they were eating at the previous owners house.

They will be in their permanent home on December 19. The guy I got them from (birddog486) needed them out of his system by Dec 6 and yesterday happened to be the only day I could go between now and then.

They're beautiful. Where did you get them from?

I got them from birddog486 in Beloit, WI. He has a pretty amazing clownfish breeding system with some very nice pairs!

Looks good! I wouldn't really call them a misbar pair, however. Female GS Maroons will often loose parts or all of their stripes as they mature. I had one female that was about 4" long that only had about 1/4" of her first gold stripe left. All the rest had disappeared(and she had three full stripes when I got her as a juvenile).

They really are good looking fish!
Not to hi-jack the thread or anything but (amazing what happens right after you type but) Is there anything special you have to look for in the flower pot? I know that a lot of ceramic and that type stuff can be high in lead, don't know about terra cota (sp).. Just wondering if there is a special kind, or if there really isn't too much to worry about as far as what might leach into the water.. (I think I'm probably just a little too good at worrying)

Well either this is a small snailish thing that I never knew I had or the female layed a VERY SMALL clutch of eggs even after all this stress! I'll try to take a picture tomorrow.

Either way they are adjusting very well, still haven't eaten but were out and about today checking everything out.

Well there seems to be trouble in paradise. Either the male had been nipping on the females tail today, the pifferfish grabbed the female's tail through the egg crate, or the female has a moderate case of fin rot. I hope it is not the latter considering the water params are perfect (0,0,5,8.2) and no other fish are showing any issues.

If deterioration does not stop by tomorrow she and her mate will go into QT and treated for fin rot.

I agree. When I was breeding them I found that as soon as the females started breeding they would slowly loose their stripes, starting from the back and bottom. One female eventually lost all her stripes. I had 5 pairs and it happened to everyone.

Hm...well at least the male is a true misbar! I have diagnosed the female with tail rot for sure. It looks like it has stopped progressing and the tank parameters are perfect so I am going to give it until Wednesday to start to look better or I am going to move the pair to QT and treat them for bacteria.

I had a heck of a time time breeding these I got 200 to days 8-10 and when they went through metamorphisis they killed each other. I have 3 other breeding pairs these are hard. Good luck

I can't understand how it happened. No other fish have any symptoms of any disease and this fish has no symptoms of any disease other than the tail fin. I am hoping NLS pellets soaked in garlic will give the fish the power to fight on its own since the bacteria has stopped progressing.
