stagcrazy, yes starphyer is an awesome glass. I have a one sided starphyer in my 90g now.

pyle02 I hope so! I hope to be as successful with MH as I was with T5's. I'm only consuming 200 more watts for 8hs/day. The fact that the tank is shallow is why i went 150watt MH, otherwise i'd gone the way of T5's so I wouldn't have to use a chiller! I just hate the noise, heat thrown off by it, the fact that it won't fit under the stand and cost of running the larger MH
EvMiBo thanks and I tend to agree with you, however there are other concerns, like, getting another tank with imperfections, i lready scheduled help for the transfer of livestock, long weekend to complete work, etc.

imperfections bother and stress me out. I would replace the tank, but I would also understand not wanting to.

I'd frag it.
Get a new tank - I also have a pin head size bubble. At first I thought that I would never notice it and never see it, but I see it every time I look into the tank, even if I don't mean to look in that area.
Great tank though. I'm looking into setting up a 100g (48x24x24) rimless as well. I'll be following your build - subscribed

Unfortunately while moving in my AGE I put a very small scratch into the vinal background, so I replaced it with a new one. There was an issue with the backing creasing in the new one before I even opened it (of course, you cannot tell until the sh*t dries on your tank!), and there is a VERY slight noticeable crease on the background while viewing the tank through the top, or left pane. It cannot be seen while viewing through the front pane, so I moved forward anyway... it drives me NUTS! Thank the lord I KNOW I'm moving within a year or so, so I will be replacing the background then... I can live with it for now. IMO a bubble in the front pane would drive me that much more nuts... JMHO - three weeks to a month is nothin' in the grand scheme of things.
I have to add a +1 here... have you filled it up yet? Many times imperfections will be much more noticeable with water in it, so take that into your considerations...

btw lobster before you go making that tank, that's 120g, 100g is 48x24x20
I hate imperfection in my tank anywhere (and man, is it everywhere) but the glass itself being blemished drives me nuts. I think it's definitely worth waiting on to get a new tank/pane.

kretzkiller, GSMguy, lobsterotomy, EvMiBo, and stunreefer, thanks you all for your input. I leak tested the tank and it all passed with flying colors. The bubble actually got less noticeable and this is on a flat black color background so now i'm leaning on keeping the tank. The builder came by the house to check out the imperfection and said what ever i decide is totally up to me and not to feel "sorry" for him. He said if i choose to keep the tank he'll throw in a custom sump free of charge to me for the imperfection, or i can just opt to change out the tank! I already have a sump. This builder is unbelieveable! Nice, honest guy! I had another reefer come over when i was testing the tank and never told him there was an imperfection and he checked for quality of work all over the tank. He never even noticed the bubble. I'll know for sure on friday because that's the day i would have to do the transfer.

I know I have to travel when you transfer the stuff from the old tank, but at least let me enjoy some of the fun before I leave for a long weekend. Besides, with business travel, vacation, and your vacation, I won't see the tank again until August.
Guys, the setup is nice. I had the opportunity to see the tank Tuesday. The 24" deep is going to allow for a nice aqua-scape.

OK guys, i've decided! as you know I went thru a lfs to buy this tank. The lfs and tank builder came together and offered me a new sump, or at cost a new tank in the future, or to rebuild the tank. I was not looking for free handouts so i was quite surprised as you can imagine! I got to say this is the best group of guys i've ever worked with! I told them I would just keep the tank and not worry about anything because it's such a small imperfection that it's almost not noticeable. They in turn insisted to at least take a sump free of charge even though i said it wasn't necessary! They looked at my sump and said to redesign it and they will throw it in for free for their error! Sooo, i guess i'm getting a new sump! I will go ahead as planned and do my transfer this weekend along with the old sump. Then when the new sump arrive i will remove the old and in with the new!!!

It's been a long day, too many beers, and too many laughter with friends, and one understanding wife! any how here's a few pic's of the tank being set up. We finally got the tank in place, mounted the lights to the ceiling and began filling.

Thanks v1...rotate, today was lotsa fun. I got the day off and spent it with friends and family getting quality time building the tank.
. I used about 40% of the water from the origional tank and the rest is about 40% mixed ro and 20% real salt water from the ocean here in florida. I used 4 bags of live sand and sprinkled in some crushed coral shells because i don't like when the sand looks too uniform. This IMO makes the sand look "real" like what you'd see in and around the reef.
I installed a union joint in the return in the event I may have to pull it apart. I wanted to have the option to do this without having to break down the tank to do any plumbing. the tank sits about 4 1/2 inches away from the wall. I also had to level the tank stand because the floor was not level. I used linoleum tiles to accomplish this. Using linoleum allows me to adjust the stand up/down 1/8 of an inch and it will not compress. I had used this method when i installed floating wood floors in my house. the floor came out perfectly level!
