The joy of owning more than one tank, changing out bulbs. Here is the collection of used bulbs replaced today in 4 tanks. One of the tanks we left the MH's cause they were less than a year old. What a big difference it has made in the tanks....Guess a person shouldn't wait 18 months to replace them. All of the fixtures have been marked so that I can make sure this doesn't happen again.

do you keep the old bulbs? I use them over my refugium, since the colour spectrum shifts to the yellow spectrum.
That's a thought, but I only have one refugium that takes 36" bulbs.........

For lack of a better place to post them, I took these pictures last night from my 12 gallon nano. I got these corals from Sam, (kau_cinta_ku) a little over a month ago. Not sure what he is doing with these, but the growth has been unbelievable in a tank that I don't do much with other than feed the clowns once a day. These corals are growing faster than the ones I keep in the coral tank..

algae dude.

About changing out your lamps...did you raise the pendants up or burn them in before putting them over the tank? Often when you replace bulbs the increase in light will shock the system.

Sand in the closed loop made a mess of the Blue Line's impeller. Does anyone have a suggestion for preventing this from happening again?

I changed all of the timers so the lights are on about 2/3rds the time before the change.

Pretty much just do what you can to avoid sucking sand in in the first place.

I like the labels. I did the same on my RO system recently when I swapped out the filters.
It didn't take me too long to figure out my memory is going, so I have been keeping track of changes with the filtration components with hang tags and the weekly tank log. The sticker idea came from my folks who always used to put them on all of the smoke detectors when they changed out batteries. The old P-Touch comes in handy once and a while...

Sometimes less is more. I find the more I keep my hands out of the tank and tinkering with all the gadgets, the better the tank looks. It's all about balance and equilibrium I guess.

how close are the intakes to your sandbed?
There are two, ones at the top, the other pictured here, is near the bottom, I would guess an inch or two above the level of the sand.

Do you suppose that when the intake was remove and cut, the strainer is now closer to the bottom than before?
