My new Gig, how often to change water?

I received a new gig yesterday. It has not deflate over 18 hrs of observation. It doesn't spit out anything either. Assuming that it continues to stay inflated and the water is crystal clear, how often should I change the water? I have not started the Cipro treatment. The picture below is him going through drip acclimation.

Unless you see it deflating there is no need for cipro, but I'd observe it a few more days at least, no spot feeding, no need to do wc's really

That gig looks pretty healthy. Has it deflated? Or are you treating just to be safe?

I usually keep gigs in QT for 1-3 weeks before adding it to the DT. IME, it can take up to 3 weeks before showing signs of sickness, but that's rarely. Usually they show signs within the first 2 weeks.

Don't put your clownfish in QT with the nem. They usually do more harm than good (picking at the nem, rubbing too hard, aka "overloving" the nem to death) causing undo stress. Let it acclimate in peace. Assuming you have a percula or ocellaris, they'll take to the gig immediately upon arrival in the DT.

Can I ask where you picked this one up from? Was it one from Aquatic Collection?

Yes it was from Aquatic Collection. I was going to get the green one from the prior batch. But someone beat me to it....lol.
It looks super healthy and mouth tightly closed straight out of the bag.

Nice. IMO the purple one that you picked up looked to be the healthiest.

You saw it in person? The latest post said they have a mag. I'm so tempted to ask Joe to send me a pix.

No, I didn't see it in person, just the photos. Joe said that they have two mags actually.

Here's a photo of one of them:

Good call. Two nems in QT is a lot to take on a one time.

I may swing by tomorrow to check it out, if it's still there. They're selling nems like hotcakes.

are there actual purple gig? or are they some variation of blue?

I know for Haddoni, some come pure purple.

OP's gig looks very nice and purple.. man 1 more to the wish list

There are actual purple gigs. I have two that are different shades of purple. They are more distinctive under sunlight. Under LEDs, the blues oftentimes looks like purple and vice versa. I'll shoot some photos when I have a chance.

If you want them to pair up after QT is complete then put them both into a small bowl for a few minutes. The confined space makes them pair up. Try it. It worked for me

Assuming the clowns are either percula or ocellaris, you don't need to do this. Gigs are the natural host, so they will instinctively go to it.

Furthermore, while this technique does work, if done incorrectly, you can end up with dead clownfish.

^^ Ditto, or if clowns have not yet adapted to nems sting cells

The reason many of us are going w/ natural host matches is for more natural hosting, happens faster, no need to force or rush anything.

Thanks guys. My goal is to get a mag as well. If the clown won't take the gig, I will train it with the mag.

not all of them, the more gen into breeding the less likely they will go in right away.
i removed my main display tank pair, switch to a pair of black ocellaris, i thought the color combo will looks better, but they dont want anything to do with my carpets...(6 weeks and counting...)
