My New H. Magnifica Anemone!

Hey all, I just wanted to share my new anemone because I'm really excited about it. It has been in my tank for 24 hours and hasn't deflated once since being acclimated, so I am hopeful, but I told my wife I won't stop pacing until the 2 week mark. :worried:

This is my first H. Magnifica, and I honestly never got the draw until I decided to take this one home. Now that it's in my tank, I totally get the name "Magnificent Anemone".

Like I said I was never impressed before, but I decided to get one because my clowns aren't hosting any of my BTAs, so I decided if I ever saw a good looking H. Mag with a colorful baase I'd go for it. Well... You gotta keep your eyes open on that front, cuz an LFS tank with low lighting can really botch things up.

This one was looking good for 3 days straight, no deflating and tightly closed mouth, plus no sign of foot damage. So I made up my mind and headed home.

After a lengthy acclimation and a night's rest to settle in, here's what I got so far:

It is very sticky, and the mouth has been closed tight since about an hour after it was in the tank. I haven't seen any deflating the whole time either, so I am very optimistic. Comments and questions are welcome. Thanks for looking!

Thank you! I have never seen one this brightly colored in person before (including home tanks and such), so it seems a bit more than coincidental that the first time I see one this beautiful, it is disguised and waiting for me and my camera flash to discover it. :)
 
Gorgeous anemone! Good luck with it. These guys tend to wander a bit. If you can isolate the rock that it's attached to and put it higher then the rest of the reef structure, it will be more likely to stay put (or just make sure to move any prize corals away from the vicinity of the ritteri :)

Thanks for the advice! I have him at the highest point on his rock mound, and it is slightly isolated, so I'm hoping for the best. If it moves, I'll be ok with that too, as long as it doesn't make it's home on the glass! :mad2:

If your Rock is next to the back glass it will end moving up onto it . Mine likes to move around and has ended up on the glass befor i have since made sure it could not touch the glass because if it can touch it the Mag will climb .

Fortunately, all my rock work is dead center front-to-back, so I think my biggest risk will be the ledge on the left.

Thanks! Speaking of luck, here's a quick update: I came home today around 5 just SURE I was going to find it gaping or deflated. Here's what I found instead.

Great looking ritteri i bought one this past weekend also from a lfs. Almost the same colors. Very beautiful and good luck.

Lol thanks but no thats not mine it was just pretty . Heres mine i picked up last saturday. Its base is a lavender purple and u ca see the green on its pedal.

That's pretty cool, having a green oral disc. I've never seen that before. What color is the base?
