My New Red Haddoni!!

I am back in the game! My 75 gallon reef tank has been doing great but has had a huge hole since the last carpet died. But a rather well known reef tank in my area was taken down and the lfs had a firesale. I was able to pick up this beauty. It was in a bag floating in the tank but the price was one I simply couldn't refuse. Oh and a red haddoni at that! Im not sure how big it is but in the pic it's closed up pretty tight but it's still 10" across! Good thing my 75 is made for just this anemone. For size comparison the female spotcinctus clown is in the bottom left of the picture.

Like you, I too have a spot in my tank for the perfect Carpet. Waiting patiently to find a 12", red would be ideal. Nice score! more pics please.
And yeah so what did this guy set you back?
 
I just released him and it's not picture worthy:-P Currently it's on it's face and trying right itself and sit in it's spot. But it's looking pretty huge! I'll take more pics for sure when it's upright. I may post too many actually lol. I actually walked away like a thief in the night after paying $200 for a red haddoni that I'm guessing could top 18-20".
 
Well the haddoni sat right down where I was planning (there is something satisfying about that:) And the clowns took right to it. Lights are off but it's looking at home. The rim has lots of tents missing. My guess is it was handled a lil rough when it was moved to the bag. Pics in the morning!
 
I took this pic right after the lights came on. It's at about 10" across in the pic. Also the are bald spots on the rim. Propably from rough handling when it was put in the bag:-/

Looking good. It is going to be huge. Those bald spots should resolve in 2-3 weeks if you feed him well.
 
I was shooting pics this morning and thought I would include them including a FTS with the red starting to relaxalmost half is still laying in a cave probably acclimating to the light still.

This guy is really settling in. The mouth is shut now and it's 12" across without even being stretched out:0 the posture is looking firm and active. Tents are vibrating. And its really taking up the space it deserves on my reef! I'm super stoked!

Wow! Gorgeous! My tank is a little too small for a carpet...How do you like the maxi mini anemones? Do they move at all?
 
I love my maxi mini's! They are hardy and get along with my larger carpets and provide shots of color and interest to the tank. They seem to move a lot until they settle individual ones seem to get wanderlust and crawl in and around rocks. But they are gentle with coral from my experience. I don't have sps so that remains to be seen:)
 
So after one week big red has relaxed even more and has a 13"-14" spread. The bald spots are starting to grow back in also. I'm thinking of feeding a cube of marine cuisine soon to help with the regrowth.

Thanks! He's a hungry guy and has a strong feeding response!! My phone is limping to it's upgrade. I can't post to YouTube with this one but feb 1st look for a video:) after the first feeding he grew a bit and looks better:)
 
Congrats!

Just a note from personal experience:

1) keep a close eye on it. If you see mouth gaping a lot, then I would suggest QT
2) the health of the nem can go 180 very quickly
3) slowly acclimate to your light

I had a red carpet last month that went from healthy to zero even with D-nak's help on trying to save it.
