The other one is healing but at least it is not gapping too much.

Congrats!!! hope they do well for you, sorry i was not able to locate one for you :( that second one looks like it could be a show stopper, does it have white/silver tips?

Yes Robbie, finally was able to find these gigs, they are pretty neon blue tips but the mouth a bit open but it should heal and never seen nems that sting alot, that is a sign of a good nem and a good close mouth.

nice score !!! good luck with them, very jeolous......

can i ask how much they run for? u can PM me the number if you want :)

actually it has been a local provider for chicagoland, they advertise on craigslist and they are in bensenville. I do not have their business name yet. I will pm you tonight thanks.

Congrats Pete! I wonder if you can get your hands on some cipro? Seems quite a few have had great success using it. I want to see those guys in your tank gain some color and size!!! :)

Dave, is that the antibiotic for anemones?
Maybe I will ask reefwise if they have it.

Sorry bud, Reefwise won't have it. He probably won't even know what you are talking about. There are several threads in this forum, actually on this page, explaining. If you read some, I'm not sure where to get it, I read them kind of fast. I think Orion started them, I think he's the pioneer for it. Seems like a very promising "cure" for the typical gig melt. I don't think it's a whole tank treatment, be careful. :) Best of luck!!!

48 hours update-the colors are more vibrant and goo coming out of nem's mouth and the mouth of other nem is smaller.

Any updates? I'm looking to pick up the purple in a few hours, and have a 20G tank with LEDs, heater, and everything ready to go should I need to medicate it.....

Treat them now (contact orionn). They are at least semi bleached and one has a loose look to the body structure.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I'm sure you guessed something was going awry.

Don't "should i need to medicate it" do it. Prophylactic QT has proven effective.

C'mon guys this forum is littered with threads on this very topic.

Ole miss Rebb, thanks for the link, I ordered it right away, will use my biocube that I have been cycling for it to treat it, thanks for the input guys.

Agreed... I'm updating my thread constantly as well... We'll see what happens here.. Just ordered the Cipro just in case.

The charcoal/rat poop black stuff that's coming out of your gigs is one of the signs of a sick gig. Typical waste is stringy. IME it's a sign that there is an infection of some sort that's causing the nem to lose its zooxanthellae but not expel it (change in osmotic pressure while in transport?).

You should begin treatment right away. Sick gigs don't usually show signs sickness until week 2 and by that time it's too late to save it without medication.

I understand what you're saying, but disagree. After consulting with Minh, unless the Gig shows some sort of signs that it is sick I am not going to treat it just because. It will stress the animal out more moving to QT, medicating, and bringing it back just because. It has not deflated even once since yesterday. Overnight it stayed it size it is now minus maybe 10% which is normal, and is responding beautifully. There has been zero expelling is black waste, or any waste for that matter.

If the Gig shows signs that it needs treatment, I will treat it otherwise I'm not going to do it just to do it. Think about it.. Doctors don't prescribe cold medication if one isn't sick, it just doesn't make sense.

Appreciate your thoughts, and will update my thread. Like I said, cipro is ordered, and if he needs help, I will be here to help otherwise he just might be strong enough to do it on his own. I have the luxury of working at home, so I am sitting in front of the tank from 8 - 5.... Trust me, I'm watching like a hawk should he need help.
