My New SPS Reef

Denadai,

This is beautiful. Congratulations. I see you are no longer using that great overflow design. May i ask why?
Also i have a few questions about the plastic rock - where can i get them? Are they heavy - will they not float without securing them?

All in all you continue to impress me very much. Thanks for your great and dedicated work!

Regards,
Dainius

Hi Dainius,

I´m not using the old overflow because is not so easy to explain to the guy that would do my reef, and I was moving to the new house and I need a new tank to transfer everything as soon as I can

I got the plastic rock in my LFS, I´m going there again this weekend and I will look where this rock are made. There are not heavy, they are lightweight and they not float because there are holes and the water can enter inside them

Stuning! Stunning! Stunning!
what material you used for the barebottom?
I´m thinking about Barebottom for futures tanks, (with white glass bottom) and want to see how it holds (clean, coraline grow, etc.) over time in ULNS.

Hi,

I´m using white Acrylic, so far so good. When you have BB you can see how much dirty a reef can produce in just one day. Besides Tangs are crap machines :D

The only problem now is that I want to siphon the detritus all day long :wildone:

Best Regards

Hi Denadai,

The tanks looks really great, though, I'm wondering with the white plastic base and the "fake rocks" does it look a little too clinical in person (it certainly doesn't in the pic)?

Denadai, one more question: are you using the same equipment in the sump? Can you post more photos of your tank at different angles and your sump?

NOw is perfect Denadai! clean n amazing.

this is PEAD in botton?

best regards

No, white acrylic.

Believe me, this rocks are very real. Some people that came to my house didn´t notice that the rocks are made with plastic. They thought that they are real LR.

I´m using the same sump, same skimmer , same pumps. I just bought a new ATI Sunpower, now 8x39w and before was 6x39W. Also I bought 3 pumps to dose balling and a new Mp 40 to increase the flow throught the tank

very nice tank!!!!!!!!

Thank´s

Here one pic with different angle :

Very nice, I'm a big fan of the look you achieve with your tanks, super clean and nice bright sps.
What weir design did you use this time? I really like your old full length weir.

I can't see much sopirax in your sump either this time?

Look at the right of the skimmer...seems like Siporax.

Denadai,
The new look seems great to me, more clean and KISS!:D

Guys,

I have now 3L of siporax im my sump. They are bellow the top off box.

I´m using an external overflow box in the left

Best Regards

Denadai, your tank looks amazing my friend! :D

I am just wondering will the white acrylic stain/absorb yellowness from the water and discolour over time?

I am thinking of going barebottom in my tank too.

Wonderful looking tank.
What are the new tank dimensions? and who is the manufacturer of the external hang on overflow.

Hello Sahin,

Well I don´t know if the acrylic will become yellow, but every weekend I use a toothbrush to scrape the acrylic.

Go ahead with BB, you will love

The dimensions are : 40x20x17

I did the overflow in my LFS

Nice tank dimensions and I like how the lower water level allows for any water movement and get the lights closer to the corals.
Hopefully the weekly scrub with the toothbrush will keep the acrylic from getting covered with purple coralline algae. Do you have any snails or clean up crew?
Regarding the overflow you built, is it a U-tube style or the bent acrylic variety? It looks very thin and low profile, did you design it yourself?

Denadai, do you intend to keep coralline algae from growing on the acrylic? If you dont scrub regularly, it will grow over the acrylic and be purple.

I don´t have snails or clean up crew. Actually I don´t like them.

The overflow was made with glass, very simple. A glass box and 3 holes.

Hi Sahin,

I don´t know why but in all my ULNS tanks the coralline algae don´t grow very well.

I want my acrylic white and not purple :lol2:

It´s very easy to move the plastic rocks, so scrub all the acrylic won´t be a problem

Best Regards
