My tang has bad gas

no the gas is developed as a reaction of what he is eating, or temp.

no animal gets gas cause it "ate" gas.

we all breathe air, if that was the case, we would all be farting all day long :)

Interesting, I would counter with this point. The air we breathe is processed by our lungs, and the food we eat is processed by our digestive system. Thus when I down a beer, which is full of entrained gases, I burp.

So if the fish is eating food laden with gas bubbles, wouldn't it make sense that it gets procesd by his digestive system, and thus could lead to fish farts.

Food for farts/thought.

Ive noticed it happens with certain fish that like to aggressively eat off the surface.

I have noticed this first hand with my two clownfish. If they eat food off the surface (various flakes/pellets) where I can see air bubbles coming out of their gills, then they will fart later in the day.

If I mix the same food with tank water, then disperse it in the water column so it is not at the surface, then no air ingestion and no farting. This is only my observation and not necessarily the cause for all conditions of flatulation in various fish with different diets.

I made a post about this a while ago.

I based what I said on seahorses,
for years ppl thought its air bubbles getting trapped .... until later on we found out it was bacteria .... but that comes out of their males pouch so I could be wrong.

we need some vets here lol or some biologists.

for example, when we drink carbonated drinks, like coke, many "burp" Id expect the fish to burp out the bubbles they eat too, but my opinion doesnt mean anything :) no biology background here.

either way, Great thread ! very educational lol and fun.

Same story here, no biology or medical background, just a fish nerd. Who'd have thought this thread would take off the way it has, hilarious.

does pics or it didnt happen apply here ? :P lol
