My Tank Is Up And Running!!!

Learning to wait will be the best thing you can do in this hobby to have a successful tank and avoid unnecessary cost and death. More often then not we jump the gun and rush in adding corals and fish only to watch them die or end up with bad algae blooms. Take it slow, let the tank mature, add a little at a time, keep the bio load low, and youââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ll have more success.

Trust me I know all about waiting! I'll probably wait a couple more weeks just to make sure everything is alright. I just saw that they were both really low and thought that was good enough. I guess I'll just wait till everything hits 0 and then go for it.
Will the nitrates hit 0 as well?

Well I think I might of made one small mistake when planning this whole thing out. I used a 55 gal tank for the sump/fuge. I made the fuge pretty good size at least probably half the size of the tank. Well I think I should have made the return area bigger and maybe the fuge a little smaller now.
I can't believe how much water this is evaporating in a day! I've checking EVERYTHING to make sure something isn't leaking somewhere. It's evaporating probably about 1.5gallons a day. Is this pretty normal on a system this size?
It seems to be worse now that I plugged the skimmer in. Would that make that much difference.
Also on a side note the skimmer is working pretty good. I just plugged it in and adjusted the riser a few times and it's skimming pretty good now. Got some nasty looking green stuff in there.

LOL Matt you thought not getting to set your tank up for three years was hard...........sitting in front of a tank full of water knowing you can't put any fish or coral in it is the hardest thing to overcome in saltwater fish.....and as soon as you can put fish in there you won't know which fish to go with and you'll have to wait even longer.......this is how the fish get even with us for shoving them in little glass boxes and for constantly pointing at them at all hours of the day and night going look hunny isn't it cool when they do this

Well, I was talking on the phone and looking at the tank from my computer chair and just about jumped right out of my shorts. Found a couple more hitchikers that I didn't think i would have. Unfortunately we had to leave right away and didn't get a chance to get a picture but when i got home I got one. I have at least 2 bristle worms in the rock. One of them was hangin out of the rock at least 2 inches and the other one was just barely peeking out. They were both on different rocks.
Here's a picture of one of them, like I said I couldn't get a good shot when I got home but you can still tell what it is.
And here's just a picture of my collection cup from my skimmer. That's 24 hours worth.

The picture is too fuzzy to really tell what that thing is, but it could potentially be a Stomatella varia or a limpet. A search of pictures online might help you determine the ID.

Looks like a limet to me, funny story, I have one big mexi turbo in my tank and he has a limpet for a hat! It's funny cos I was like *** is that on the shell? Looked harder and saw he has a limpet about the size of a dime (not in a circle obvoiusly) on the newest part of his shell!

Limpets are fine, i don't think they bother anything, but that doesn't look like a limpet, more like a snail of some sort?
I really have no idea, but maybe a nass snail in the making, if so that's good too, so basically i dunno what the heck you have there!
