My Ultimate Multi Mantis System(s)

ReefBreeders just got back to me on the 5 fixtures :)....

Free freight
$30off ea fixture for bulk purchase.
$1740 for all 5 fixtures :D

All 3 major pieces of equipment that I do not have are now underway :)

All 3 sellers have been in contact with me in the past couple of hours as, I'm still waiting on quotes from 2 but the 5 LED fixtures, the 8 HOB Overflows and the 3 sumps...are now set in stone.

I'm going to have to get a move on and make the LED mounts at work...I'm going to use the smallest/thinnest steel I can for the weight that the light is just to keep it hidden, I'm thinking a flat bar since the light is only a few kg's the bar won't flex, not with what I have planned, either way I plan to have all the LED Fixture mounts (5 pairs) powder coated, to prevent corrosion and along the portion that the fixture actually makes contact with the mount, I plan on using double sided velcro that will allow the fixture and mount to grip to one another, high density foam will be under the mount where ever it may make contact with the glass.

I'm thinking this is all going to be around $5kish in the end =X... with the $1700 for lights and maybe $1500 for the overflows leaves me a bit to play with cause the sumps shouldn't cost all that much I hope...either way quotes quotes quotes -_-...

I pmed you a pix of a simple sump that will do all the things you want simply. Check it out and let's see what you may change

Off topic, as well as something I forgot to ask several weeks ago, but about your stomatopod molted carcass collection..

Looking at the L. maculata's spear, it looks extremely sharp and the first thing that came to mind was using it as a knife.. I know the raptorial parts of the molt are alot harder and more structured and sturdy compared to the rest of the body.. but is it sharp or hard enough to be used in any fanshion similar to that of a knife or atleast cut something?

That'd be pretty neat if stomatopod's molted parts could be used for daily general housework such as simply poking holes or cutting paper..

Just me thinking outloud. Curiousity gets the best of me ;)

We never got the birthday updates we needed so much. :(

I have been very busy with the upgrades...trying to organize the funds for the lights and HOBs so I can get them shipped at the same time...all in all it's doing my head in :hammer:...

Much worthy videos / photos will come, the next month of this build will be one of the most interesting ever since its very creation...when you think about it I am basically starting from scratch aside the fact that I have tanks & stands...everything else is basically being replaced...with things I should of had from day 1 and saved a lot of money in the process...

Your set up is a fish rack, and no two racks are plumbed the same way, and the way you set it up is now going through a revamp. So my comment was based on so many ways to run a rack.

Been following it from day one just waiting for the day a revamp would come and how it would take place. :)

Ahh I see well one of the plans is to take advantage of this unique system beyond its intended purpose...I would very much like to get into the world of fragging coral and since most of my plans are to use each compartment / tank as a single species coral compartment...it may go hand in hand.

Take my current Ric & Rhod tank, once completed and "full" of their type of mushy, I hope to start fragging and selling some off to begin regaining what I spent so much on.

I just don't see a point in doing that NOW since it will only add to the headache and dramatically slow down the overall "finishing" of the systems.

Either way once these 3 major things get done (New Lights, Sumps, Overflows), the only thing left (beyond stocking of coral) is the ATO system and since I not only planned the ATO system a while ago, I have already got a solid design for its layout so when the time comes it should be done fast.

Then....it's all done :D and I can go on a holiday...my single biggest concern right now is the Evap problem / Mixed with the minor leak(s) in the piping from tank to tank / Because of the 2 above the fluctuations that happen...which I should basically solve all by doing what is planned.

Morgoth took out the RabbitFish this evening, having been deep beneath the sand put it off for a while as the giant spearer molted.

Quote for the 8x HOB Overflows came back and are $1594.
Quote for the 5x LED Fixtures was $1740.
Waiting on quote for the 3 Sumps.

I set myself around $5000 aside, so there should be more then enough for the Sumps and other stuff to buy like larger pumps/pvc equipment/etc.

Here are a series of Photos I have taken recently, this evening I pruned back a lot of the Macro in the Top Tank of STAND B hosting Minnie, Maximus & Minos, it was a good idea :) as I haven't taken photos of either of them in a while being lazy and letting the macro algae just consume the top tank, I ripped out a large chunk in the smasher half and sliced out a portion in the DSB of Minos allowing me to view each individual freely again.

Maximus (G.graphurus)

Minnie (G.graphurus)

More to come :)

I basically totally simplified the sump, I got word back from the builders that my design of the first divider separating the Input/Skimmer sections couldn't be done and I realized there is no real reason anyway...I forget that what I want to put here I actually have a reactor for......(2/3 per sump).

So instead of 4 chambers there are now 3 with the Input & Skimmer chamber being 1, I removed the baffle separating Skimmer/Refugium and it will be a simple 1 wall divider drop of 1 inch (higher skimmer section), there will still be a spillway between Refugium/Return.

But that's it rest is same but it has simplified it a lot.

To help silence the overall noise of the 3 input pipes from the HOBs per STAND, I will do what I have done with my current HOB Overflow pipe, have it below the water surface but with a couple of holes above the surface level, utterly silent.

All 8 HOB Overflows have been paid for and are on their way :)...
All 5 LED Fixtures have been paid for and are on their way :D...
But the 3 Sumps I will have to wait until Monday for the return quote/price and pay then, but they are local anyway! ;)

It's all about to get crazzzy :wildone::wildone::wildone:
