My Ultimate Multi Mantis System(s)

Here is a nice photo of the Mini Maxi Nems I got recently :)

There are new plans for the Nem Tank which doesn't include the Hell Fire Nem or the Harlequin Crabs...

The Clowns represent 1 pair per large Nem...
The Porcelains the same except a third pair to host the 6-12 Mini Maxis...
The Sexy Nem Shrimp I'm just going to by randomly to see if and where they host...

Don't get me wrong...I like my fake walls, I like that I designed them and what not, however seeing something like these below...

Really kind of makes me want to just stop the whole fake wall thing and buy some custom made walls just like these, looking at that wall above with my Ricordeas all over it is a very enticing and natural looking thing...

I've contacted the company and asked about the custom designs and limitations, hopefully what would "seal the deal" is if I can give them the description of the burrows I will want in the wall and have them make it with the wall making it all natural looking with no cuts etc. afterwards.

Time will tell when they respond...

Have you considered making your own foam based walls like most of the cold water marine folks build? That's what those pictures look like.

I've considered it but as of rite now I am just wanting to get at least 1 pre made and done and toy around with it :)

One of the concepts I am excited about trying is actually having 3 walls & the base with custom made walls :) the rear wall being the "prime piece" which also hosts the burrow like my current walls, but the side walls are just for decoration and more plateaus for more corals :D.

I think in the end if it all works out it would look very natural and just plain awesome!

When I look at these walls right now I think about STAND A mostly which is 6 1 cubic foot compartments, each wall can have a unique texture/rockwork/woodwork design etc.

I'm not going to completely remove everything from the displays that the stomatopods can use like I will leave some coral rubble pieces in the compartments for them to use to block the entrances as they see fit.

Some plans for the future...unfortunately most of you on here won't be available for the benefits....

Of my Mantis Farm :D

So far what I have come to understand is that...
A) I won't be able to host "hundreds" of stomatopods...
B) I won't NEED to host "hundreds" of stomatopods...
But here is a brief layout of how it could look and some dimensions...
_____________________________________________________________________
(Species <100mm) Compartments = 200mmLx450mmWx300mmT = 24L e.a. est.
(Species >100mm ) Compartments = 600mmLx450mmWx300mmT = 72L e.a. est.
_____________________________________________________________________
3x <100mm Specimen Rows @ 5m ea / 15m total
15m = 15,000mm = 75 compartments @ 200mm long ea
75 compartments @ 24L e.a. est. = 1,815L est.
_____________________________________________________________________
3x >100mm Specimen Rows @ 5m ea / 15m total
15m = 15,000mm = 25 compartments @ 600mm long ea
25 compartments @ 72L e.a. est. = 1,800L est.
_________________________________________________________________
3x Live Food Tanks = 1500mmLx450mmWx300mmT = 185L est. = 555L total est.
3x Sumps = 800mmLx800mmWx800mmT = 485L est. = 1,455L est
_________________________________________________________________

Total length = 30m est. / 100ft est. (not inc sumps filtration etc.)
Total compartments = 100 (possibly more with slip way dividers).
Total volume (compartments) = 3615L est. (not inc sumps filtration etc.)
Total Overall Volume = 5625L est.
_________________________________________________________________

By creating the above I can line either of the 4 walls in the garage, but likely the 2 sides leaving the rear free for other things like I'll need a big fridge & maybe even a live food system.

The middle I will reserve for the filtration for all to see OR I will build up walls around the center making the room a 'U' shape in the middle of the U is the "filter" room.

This is just a brief idea of how it will look with some obvious missing things like the ATO Reservoir etc.

This is what I am freakin' talkin' about!

Here are 2 different layout designs

Design A - utilizes a method where the top tanks in both stands act as the 1st to receive water, then they spill over and into the middle row tanks through the interal rear wall overflow, then the same thing with middle row to bottom row, where by the bottom row will feed into the sump system.

Design B - uses a better (I think) design, it basically separates every compartment into its own, with every compartment also getting its own INPUT, the return line is split into 3 (1 for each row per stand), each overflow will be plumbed into a very large piece of horizontal stormwater pipe running just below the row its attached to, each compartment above will drain into the stormwater pipe where by the large stormwater pipe carries it all to the sumps, 1 large stormwater pipe per row.

I've decided to slash a row off each stand entirely for 2 reasons...

#1 - I do not want to recreate my current mistake and the height in the garage is only 10cm taller then within my current room...I want more at least DOUBLE the space I currently have above each tank to work with.

#2 - I do not want to recreate the current mistake of having the sumps so low and shallow, I want to maximize on the sumps sizes, by having 3 rows I will only get between 400-500mm of depth maybe less beneath the bottom row, for the sumps....not enough!

So by having 2 rows only I can still keep MORE then enough individuals & more importantly have a big deep sump & plenty of room above each tank to work within.

The "Realm of Fire" is slowly coming together :D...

I'm sticking to what I started months ago and recently I got a nice cluster of nice superman rhodactids to begin covering the base of the compartment, I got a few (4) small Forest Fire Rhods as well but need many more...of both!

Notice a new additional inhabitant :P ? The Lawnmower Blenny is in the tank to hopefully combat the algae issue I have, so far...Megatron the G.chiragra within has shown his acknowledgement to the presence of the fish but has yet to harm or chase it that I have seen...

In this hobby.. what isn't off color! I guess mentioning sexy shrimp is not aloud either :)

But on a serious note some may be offended par say...

Now that's funny. An old man and a 15 year old nitwit sharing the same sense of humor. Neither one of you are near as funny as South Park.

This was the least I could do for my long time friend ='[ ...

May he rest in peace...

I guess I didn't find your failed social commentary about how a man forcibly inserts his penis into a woman against her will on a family friendly aquatic forum very amusing.

I am inagreement with mentioning this kind of stuff publicly to be inpolite.. but I also have a sense of humor.. in a serious situation however I wouldn't take it as lightly. If somebody was in a situation like that it would be extremely offensive.. What he said was said.. been there and done already.. it'll be forgotten in a week anyway.
