Myka's 69 SPS Tank 2015

Aha, here we go! (Andrew, look for frag #6)

The pics in the tank were taken maybe 20 minutes after introduction. I have them on a rack for observation, and then that rack will be outta there!

Dippy dip, and inspection. Nothing came off them. :)

Yeah, they came through overnight shipping in good shape, and they're huge! A couple of them are still a bit fussy (not much PE), and a few lost some color, but that's to be expected. Color city is right!

Nice

:beachbum:

Wow, nice sticks. I wish I had friends like yours.

Greg is pretty awesome. :lol2:

I have over 800 mL kalkwasser per day spread over 24 doses. I mix it 3 tsp RowaKalk, 45 mL vinegar, fill to 1 gallon. If I don't start seeing some nutrients I'll start skipping out the vinegar. I don't have carbon in the tank right now, and I don't use GFO unless I'm having a PO4 issue (which is rare). I do dose Prodibio BiOptim and BioDigest (bacteria and carbon source) every 14 days as recommended - I love this product. I added the first dose the day I transferred the tank.

Just read your build thread. Very nice work !

Cool photo with Jean-Michel, he lives nearby me and I see him often. Great supporter of his father's legacy.

I'm curious how you arrived at the above combination of KW and Probidio dosing ?

With that amount of vinegar I would think the Probidio products, particularly the BioDigest wouldn't be needed. Have you run with just the vinegar saturated KW ?

Thank you! Also, yes, Jean-Michel is quite the man - quite the family!

Good eyes on the carbon source double-dipping! I haven't dosed vinegar+kalk without the Prodibio for years. Maybe a decade ago was the last time I used vinegar+kalk without Prodibio. I agree with you that the BioDigest is probably a moot point. I've pondered this myself before, but had the BioDigest and just kept it going. I'm almost out of BioDigest, so I'm going to experiment with just dosing the BiOptim and vinegar+kalk. I'm not sure exactly what type of carbon source is in BioDigest - maybe it is a combination of sources and maybe more effective, though it's only added once every 14 days, so how effective could it really be? Honestly, it's not the carbon dosing that attracts me with either product, it's the greater saturation of kalkwasser and the bacteria in the Prodibio product. My tank doesn't need any carbon dosing.

I've been a little scarce, of late.. Nice new frags! They look great!
How come you haven't named them all??
I want to know what you got. Some I recognize, but most I don't.
I know there are a lot to name but really, you're the one who went and got like 16 new frags all at once! :)

I can help with that - hopefully Mindy won't mind.

Hey Matt, no worries, I've been scarce too - I haven't been following anyone's threads in the last few weeks!

Greg named them all there, I'll post some more pics and put names to the pics for you. :)

Great frags mindy!!
Wish i were closer to you guys so i could have some "greg frags" too:)

Thanks Mike! It's great having Greg nearby - I've had a number of his frags in my tanks over the years. There are still a few more from his collection that I want to get when they're ready to frag.

This is the aquacultured Mille that showed up with most of its zooxanthellae expelled a couple weeks ago. I don't see any green sheen anymore (yay). Looks like it will be blue, pink, purple.

This is another aquacultured piece I picked up at the same time. The branched were a rich forest green with blue tips. It's bleaching a bit, so maybe I have it in too much light. It's about 1/3 up the tank. I'm not sure what species it is - some sort of deepwater.
July%2014%202015%205.jpg

This is Montipora capitata that I've had for a couple years. I like it, so it's staying for now even though it's a Monti.
July%2014%202015%204.jpg

This is some sort of tabling Acro that came in on consignment at the LFS. There were some big chunks, but I just wanted a small chunk so I don't get weird growth pattern changes. I'm hoping it has more color to it, but I haven't seen any changes yet and I've had it about a month.

This is a weed that isn't going to be staying in the tank.
July%2014%202015%202.jpg

This was a nice surprise - I picked it up as a skin flap frag that was totally browned out and I had no idea what it was. It it super sensitive to alkalinity swings, and there were a couple low alkalinity issues not long before the tank transfer. I almost lost it. The green is normally a really deep green with neon magenta corallites. Some sort of SSC. It's been my favourite for a long time, but it grows painfully slow It's 2 years old.
