NARC May Meeting

Hi y'all,

Jack and Kathy agreed to host NARC meeting for the month of May.

I am hoping that 23rd will be good for everyone although it's the memorial day weekend.

As some of you know that their reef shop is in Tennessee. It's about 1.5 hours away, but we have done this type of field trip in the past (a few times to both Fish Tails and Aquarium Designs when Philip was there) and the turn out was very good each time.

They are offering a free coral (possibly ricordia if they get their order in time) to each NARC member that attends the meeting. :)

I need a head count for the event. Please let me know in this thread.

So far, I have Stuart, Monica and her husband, Harry and Mary Ruth, and maybe from Mariner. Reilly and I will be there, too.

If you are attending, please let us know either here or at NARC forum on Reef2Reef site so that Kathy and Jack can make a plan.

As for the exact time, shall we say 1:00 pm?

Anyone bringing any show and tell stuff or extra corals to share? I am sure I will have some softies to give away.

Tomoko, I'm fairly sure Fred will go, unless something comes up, although I can't go. It really stinks to have to work the holiday weekends. I've finally graduated with my BSBA and am looking for a new job.

If y'all don't mind, I'd like to join you for your next meeting. I want to go check out Triton's Garden and meet some of the north folks.

No problem at all, sculdermut. Our meetings are open to anyone who would like to come :).

Congratulation and good luck on job hunting, Teresa. My daughter is also graduating from UAH this coming weekend. One done, and two more to go. One of them is planning on going to graduate school. I have to pinch pennies for a long time to come...

Tammy and I plan to come. It may be only one ofus but we will make a presents. Have you asked Kathy what she would like people to bring? I am sure everyone will enjoy this meeting. Jack is like a walking weath of knowledge and their setup is impresive.

I have not talked about refreshment with Kathy, since we need to nail down the date and time first.

I had only one objection (privately) to the date so far for that being a part of the memorial day weekend. Everyone else seems to be okay with 23rd. So I think the date question is settled.

Time wise, is 1:00 pm okay with everyone? If so, what would you like to do for food/refreshment? We can make it a pot luck lunch or just coffee/soft drink and sweets type of deal.

Kathy and Jack kindly said the following:

"Lunch or snacks should be up to us.... well we are pretty easy going so what ever you all want is good with us. if you all want to grill out we can.... or if you want coffee and cake that is good to... we were planning on serving some finger foods and drinks. now all we need is a topic for the general meeting and someone to give it???? have we got anyone who wants to do a show and tell? maybe aquascaping or building something? what ever you all want is good for us."

I will bring some snack food with me. Any one care to bring some soft drinks?

Do any of you want to do show and tell/demo? I am sure that we will be spending some time admiring Jack and Kathy's tanks. If you want to watch some expert's lectures on DVD's ( I suppose Jack and Kathy don't mind this, either), I can bring a few of them (E. Borneman, R. Shimek, S. Joshi and R. Holmes-Farley to name a few.) Some of you have seen these several years ago, but many of you have not.

Tomoko

Tomoko, I don't know how you plan to maintain reef aquariums and pinch pennies at the same time. To me, the two ideas seem to be inherently opposites. lol! You all have fun; sorry I can't be there.

Tomoko,
1:00 Sounds great that will give us time to drive up there and return without it being too late. I can bring whatever you need me to bring.

Monica

Stuart -

Did you get the directions from Kathy and Jack? They PM'd me with the direction. If you haven't received them, I will forward their directions to you.
