You are obviously a very interesting and opinionated individual with a cast iron attitude towards your own "way". I like that! I can say without doubt, you have one of the heathiest systems around whether your presentation is distracting or not, your corals speak for themselves! I enjoy it, you enjoy it, your corals and fish enjoy it and in the end thats what matters. Anxiously awaiting your system upgrade!
thank you, those words are very cool of you to say... though i wouldnt say im all that interesting of an individual, lol, and yes, opinionated, but open minded more than most... jus not with my system lol...
my goal is to have a great "show tank" of corals, and present them like "museum display" or "trophies" in a case... and to keep the focal point on each and every individual coral... be it zoa, or sps...
however, this is not my only goal... my other goal is to prove to everyone, that you dont need to have all the "bells and whistles" to acheive a nice system... don't get me wrong, i try to use quality and proven components, such as vortechs, and a good skimmer, and quality bulbs... but i dont feel that if done properly, and not over eagerly as in overstocking for example, that the use of contollers, carbon/bacterial dosing etc, calcium reactors, or even the use of GFO, is necessary... I really wish i had a good camera, as all of my pics are taken with my cell phone (yes, every last one), becuz the colors in person a soooo much better and vibrant and defined... the pics do them no justice whatsoever...
I mean, some people love all their "bells and whistles" and that is cool, cuz its what one likes about the hobby and how they choose to approach it, and thats awesome... but i jus get sick of everyone saying you "need this" or you "need that"... its total BS, and i am here to prove it...
granted, i'm only in a 75g right now, and only have 18 peices on the columns as far as sps go, but its all i have room for, and f course, im only a little over a year into this, and have many colonies that need to grow out much more before they look more desirable, and my vision starts to take shape... I know for a fact alot of people dismiss my approach and my system, but once the display is three times the size, and the corals are 3 times as many, and all grown to a good size, well, then they will see and they will have no choice but to recognize my efforts, and my simplistic and proven approach...
granted, this is all if i shoud be so lucky as to not have any mishaps or lose a bunch of corals to pests or disease... but for now, i am doing what i can, I am diligent about my husbandry, and i try to keep it as fail safe as i can...
Hopefully, i can keep it all going and my vision will become a reality... but lets face it, luck has everything to do with it as much as any other aspect of it all... again, should i be fortunate enough...
