Need help to identify a wave maker that goes on 1” acrylic sheet.

I have a 540g tank that's built with 1" acrylic sheets. Need your help to find a wave maker whose magnet is strong enough to stay on it and powerful enough for the tank size. It's peninsula style tank so I'm okay to have two wave makers. Thanks.

Vortech mp60 will hold onto 1" acrylic. Least their site says it does.

All pumps for that thickness are pricey. The tunzes which hold at 1 inch are 6255 for sure . Other models would have to be researched as I'm not familiar with their complete lineup. Unfortunately they are all $$.

I seem to recall gyre used to have some sort of super magnet pack that would enable any of their gyres to stay on 1" thick tank, but I can't find it online. Am I remembering things wrong??

My acrylic tank is 1". MP60 will hold, as will the WAV. I had the builder 'route' a couple of spots on the rear to 3/4" so I could use MP40s. As noted, Tunze does make a stronger magnet set for some of their pumps.

I don't think your going to find a cheap option. You could try stacking extra magnets on the external magnet on something like the bigger Jebaos.

Lol. Will that work?? How about those icecap 3k gyres? Mine is only gonna be a FOWLR so I don't see why I need to spend the money to get a controller with functions that I will never use.

IME, suction cups fail. Sooner rather than later.

If it were me, I'd take a long hard look at a pair of Maxpect Gyre 250's or 280' depending on just how long your tank is. I pair of them at one end will create an amazingly wide flow patter, and with their program-ability you would be able to get some very random flow patterns.

Have you thought about getting a jebao or something else where the mount and the pump are separate?

I would glue the blasted thing right to the acrylic, or fashion some kind of option that hangs on a bracket from the lip of the tank before I paid that much for fancy water fans.

Big beautiful tank to have something hanging off the side. Sorry but that would look like absolute crap. Might as well do away with the sump and have all HOB equipment too. :lolspin:

Hang it from the back with a painted black background and you’d never see it. I mean, the wave maker by itself is already a huge eyesore what difference is a little bracket going to make. Especially when al these ultra expensive pumps are all going to crap out at some point anyway.

The amount of stuff you guys nit pick at baffles the mind sometimes.

Stacking magnets does increase the 'pull', yes. You have to get strong ones, though, and they're not cheap either.

Why not attach the powerheads to the overflow (if you have one). I do that on my tank for a couple of Jebaos - the overflow runs along the top back of the tank and is only 1/4" thick. The external magnets are waterproof.
