Need immediate help. Is this an infection.. looks like a major gash

I got a new potters angel from DD last week... He's been in QT and hasnt been eating... doing mostly hiding in the pvc pipes.. I just let it alone to acclimate.. He is in the 20g tank with a small mystery wrasse who has been very healthy and eating well. Today I noticed what appears to be a major gash across his body.. Not sure what it is, infection or something... It looks pretty deep.. I have some paraguard and kanaplex.. and I can get some other stuff at the LFS.. what should I use?

I gave it kanapkex for now since it's all I have. It says broad spectrum antibiotic.

I never seen anything like this. Seems like the gash is so big I can see flesh.

See that vertical glass heater in the pic? I'd be willing to bet that somebody parked up against it. I'm not the meds expert, but you're likely off to a good start with the kanaplex.

Ya I thought that might be it.. I have the neotherm heaters (plastic) on my other QT tanks right now so I was using the glass heater on that QT tank. Never had a problem with it but wow, this thing really burned a hole in his body. I can actually see flesh inside... dunno how he can still swim.

Do you think that will blemish his body assuming he even makes it? I actually doubt he can make it, the pictures dont show how deep this thing is.

If you keep the meds in the tank the fish should recover with little scaring. You will probably always be able to see where the wound was.
