Need to get something off my mind

We are very lucky to have wonderful, diverse stores here in Tulsa. I feel that alone should be applauded. I love the 4 stores affiliated with OMAS. Reef Revolution was VERY helpful to me in the start up of my tank, Aquarium Oddballs always has a wide variety of corals (affordable as well, Scott and Jena always have small frags on hand that are just what I am looking for), Ultimate Reefs is always helpful (and has great prices on water!), Premier Aquatics has a great selection of aggressive fishes, Scott and Greg have helped me with several problems I have had with my tank. As you can see all of the stores offer many different things, and not everyone may feel that way, but I love having the opportunity to shop at all 4 places. It is a bit upsetting to me that there is this much contriversy over someone raving about any one of these stores, I personally have raved over each one of these stores, they are all OMAS supporters therefore OMAS should show thier support in return and quit downing people for expressing thier personal joy they experienced in one of these stores. That being said everyone is entitled to his or her opinion they form about a store. I just feel that we are EXTREMELY LUCKY to have such a great group of stores to shop!

SweetFawn, I couldn't have said it any better. You took the words right out of my mouth. I applaud you.

Truthfully, I don't recall mentioning online anything about Ultimate Reefs or Premier Aquatics, but I usually do more word of mouth. I've gotten a lot of people in Stillwater to make more trips to Tulsa now because we have such good shops. OKC has some good ones, too. I would say, besides the drive, Stillwater people have it made! We have access to all the good shops and they are all about the same distance away. Too bad that distance is almost a good hour drive :D

But to reiterate what SweetFawn was saying, just take a look at this thread. It just proves that Oklahoma in general has some of the best shops in the Midwest if not the nation.

Travis and Sweetfawn pretty much nailed it for me. Dittos and Cudo's to both. (Oh yes, and Lawnboy's interesting relative perspective!!!)

Scott nailed it on the head for me...

Everyone pretty much has legitimate reasons for the way they feel...Not too many fallacies going on here.

Travis, you state something about more participation on this board, could some of those that don't really participate on this forum be some of the ones that don't like the "baited" LFS promos and other attacks on this board. I agree with you that attacking someone personally or even a LFS (like some people on here were doing to Tulsa Aquatics) is wrong. I didn't create this thread to point out individuals or any LFS, I'm merely pointing out that myself and some others feel this situation needs fixed.

So with that point, lets fix this issue so everyone is happy. Lets make some stickys for each LFS. Then we can post questions to them directly, complain to them, praise them, etc...

I'm open for opinions and recommendations on what to do, I think we can make this situation a productive and happy one.

Now, let me contact a MOD and get this thread closed, so I get the last word in...:D

Dude, All I'm trying to do is make a point when everyone is saying that peace and happiness can exist on this board the way it is, when in reality the very thing that they are saying pollutes this board has been done by them. I have no affiliation to Tulsa Aquatics, I have only been there once in the 1.5 years I have lived in the area. Do you have a problem with me? Cause I don't like confrontation, maybe we should get together sometime and talk it over...over a beer.

I'm talking about Scott0615

Random thought of the day for everyone:

I had my boss ask me this one day:

Are you part of the problem or part of the solution

Ok so heres .02 more,

I would just like to say that I think all this talk about stickys and special forums is great but, it is going to turn out to be fruitless because of the existing bylaws on RC which is their right.

Why don't we as OMAS members put our heads together and focus our efforts on the OMAS website. Couldn't we link the discussion board somewhere that would allow us the freedom to type our minds instead of being afraid of banishment.

If the OMAS website ownership is to hard to navigate then someone with time should see a need and start a new website for thr Tulsa area. I think the local stores and coral farmers would much rather spend advertising dollars on a website that speaks to their immediate market.

Coom bye ya my lord, Coom bye ya....etc.etc.etc.

:D can't we all just get along:rollface:

ya why does there have to be so much negativity on this board? There is enough negativity in the world who needs it here? I come here to discuss everything related to my tank, not feel like I am in jr high. We are supposed to be a group (of friends) that get together every month to enjoy each others company and discuss our tanks, not bicker over who said what or who's store is better.

naterd, That is all too true. I've had MANY OMAS and propective OMAS members tell me that they don't like even going on to the forum becuase of all the snide remarks that get thrown around and all the LFS experience posts (once again, baited or not). In fact, I have talked to a few prospective OMAS members that were actually so detered from the OMAS forums that they actually don't even want to be members. I think the bulk of the problems are still a matter of people not watching their Ps and Qs and being respectful to others opinions. Participating in the forums with positive insights is far more helpful for the club and its reputation then anyone posting something negative.

Also, naterd, I think that you may have misunderstood what jjmcat was saying. But, regardless, I think that at least in this thread all names of people and stores should be left completely out of it.

Through thick and then though, I do have to say that I am proud of this club. I have watched it grown, go through growing pains, and change leaderships. With every little step that we have taken, we are slowly climbing to greater heights. Lets just try to keep things like this in good context, watch what we are saying, and try to make more steps forward for the club.

You guys and gals can call me Nate. Very good points Travis, I didn't start this thread hoping to start some drama. If I could take it back and not start the thread I would have. Unfortunately my personality won't allow me to back down from a stance I feel is right. I felt again and again that my point wasn't getting across, post after post. So I felt the urge to continue to get my point across. I shouldn't have done that, because it continued this needless post.

I have learned a little something from this thread...If you don't like the way something is done, just move on, it's not worth ruffling feathers over.

Let's let this thread die. I think everyone that want's to put their input in, did so.
