Neon green carpet anemone

My neon green carpet decided to climb to the top of my aquarium last night right at the water line. He was at the bottom before with his foot birdied in the sand. You can see the creator he left at the bottom. I have a few concerns about this.

1) what will I do during water changes as it will expose the anemone to air? Will it hurt/stress him?

2) it's blocking 1 of my overflow box grates. I have two but these lead to separate compartments in the sump. Water is just trickling in the one and the other is has doubled it's flow.

I really don't want to disturb him but I may not have a choice. Your advice is much appreciated.

looks like a haddoni.
they like sand and lower flow compare to other carpet. i will move him back to sand bed and pick a lower flow area, turn off or turn down the flow for awhile let it settle down.

Air is no big deal as haddoni's will be in locations where the tide comes in and out exposing it to "air" all the time...

However, with the nem so high, there is a danger that something bad will happen... he may fall out of the tank or hit a pump or something... I would put it back in the sand.

Aside from what others mentioned, I would check your water parameters as well. Haddoni like to plant their foot on a smooth surface below substrate. For it to climb so high typically indicates that there is a problem.

Can you give us specs on your tank including water parameters and age?

He did move after a water change. He has only been in the tank since December 7th so it's pretty new.

Water Params:

Salinity: 1.026
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0.5 - 1
Alkalinity: 8.2
Calcium: 480
Magnesium: 1395
pH: 8.2
Phosphate: 0.04 - 0.05
Temp: 80

Tank Age: 3 Months Started with Established live rock

that's 16g nuvo right?
what's your setting on your razor?
heat the water before water change?

Based on the curved edges, I was guessing it was a small tank.

Unfortunately, unless you're extremely diligent and careful with maintaining your water parameters, the tank is too small to house a haddoni, even for the short term. The key to having nems not move around is stability, and with such a small tank it's hard to keep even small things like salinity in check (unless you have an ATO) throughout the day. I fear that your haddoni will constantly be on the move.

No it's the Nuvo 24 gal but I'm impressed you guessed the Nuvo lol. It's 36" x13x13. And I do have an ATO which keeps my salinity perfectly stable.

The razor is set to 50% channel a 70% b. For about 7 hours ramping up and down 3 hrs each

pic 3 it gives it all away. the output is a dead give away its nuvo. the leg of the razor also an easy give away.

i played with razor for a little bit, i had it over a 30X18X16 tank. when i add new BTA, i move the % down to 30% from 60% on white(A) and 100% down to 50% on Blue(B) for few weeks and slowly move it back up again.
my red haddoni move around the tank for a few weeks before it settle down.(under Radion) once it did, havent move ever since.
