New 150gal cube...finally!!

I finally upgraded to the 150gal cube I wanted. I had my old 90gal for 10 years. So it was definitely overdue!! It is a marineland with built in overflow and starfire glass on the front. The stand was homemade by a previous owner. Also bought a new bubble magus skimmer, as my euro reef would not fit. Using a 6 bulb t5 unit and 2 dsuny led units. So far so good. The fish and corals handled the transition well.

Yes!! My wife’s family used to own an Italian seafood restaurant on city island, for 30years. They used to use it to serve shrimp cocktail at weddings. They sold the restaurant and my mother in law gave it to me. It is heavy!! Probably 80+ lbs. it was tough to get it in the tank and balanced. But, they are rare now, as they can no longer be collected. So, I am proud to aquascape with this amazing shell. I don’t know of anyone else who has used one for this purpose??

It's totally amazing! I one waiting to be used in a new scape from a friends tank. Looking forward to watching this tank progress.

Great tank. Very jealous of the look you get with that size cube. Did you size the tank based on the shell?

Not officially...But, I REALLY wanted a tank that could hold the shell, Lol!! I looked at a few bowfront tanks. But, Not a fan of the way they make viewing and photographing difficult. I really wanted a cube after seeing the BORG tank at TCR in Stratford. I like the idea of aquascaping all 3 sides. It gives me, essentially 9 feet of usable viewing space.
