New Australia Harlequin Tusk

I called my LFS. The one that came in today was a tiny 1.5 inches Tusk. Fully juvenile coloration from Indo-Pacific. They wated 85 plus tax for it. I think I will pass on this one. And also passed on the 3.5 inches from the other LFS.
Very poor selection here in Corpus Christi. All the LFS wanted an arm and a leg for anything that is unusual.
I asked the local Petco. They wanted 150 to order a small Indo-Pacific Tusk for me. I do better order from LA

I went back to the LFS and actually got the 3.5 inches HT for 96.00. The owner was not there and the LFS employee did not know if this fish is from Australia or Western Pacific. He is in my DT now but before I put him there, I took a few pictures. What do you guys think?
Aussie or Indo?
This is a 3.5 inches Harlequin Tusk. Still have three of the false eye spots on the fins. He is still stressed in my 2.5 gal aquarium so I can take pictures.

He is happily chomping away at my sub 2-3 mm snails. I got many hundreds if not thousands of these in my tank. He will be full by the night come. Just looking at him for a few mins, I counted 20 snails meet their death in his jaws. I got to fee the tank fast see if he can eat the plankton and leave the snails for rainy days.

Nice ! I would say he is from Western Pacific. If you look at my last post , you will se mine which is a Aussi. Mine is about 4". You might be able to see the difference. Good luck with yours :)

Not quite 1 hrs into the DT, he is eating quite aggressively. As aggressive as any of the fish that have been in the tank for years. I feed Mysis, Ocean Plankton and a mixture of flakes. He eat them all, even flake food. I think he will do well in this tank and will be happy there. No if he will just leave my clams alone and he can spend the rest of his days in my large tank. If he start to bother the clams, then out he will go.
I will start a new thread on Harlequin show off. Everybody please participate.

I think you guys are right. I almost sure that he is from Western Pacific. Still he is very healthy. The price is a little stiff but beggars like me can't be too choosy. He is beautiful and healthy. Hopefully he will color up more as he get older.

I think he is already quite colorful. Hope he will grow fast in your 300g, and you have the patience to wait. Otherwise you will be buying an Aussie just like I did

I actually went and got a HT today from a LFS,4" or so,paid 80 bones. Hes dripping now, they had him for a month at least so hes going straight into the DT. Theyre salinity was .015 though so gotta get him up to .025 first.

Best pic I can get right now with him in the blue bucket. =x

Nice buy!

Mines grown a fair bit in 2 years, not so much in length but has beefed up considerably, probably from eating all my Conchs, smaller Trochus, Hermits and worms. I wouldn't put expensive clams with my HT, they have the perfect picks for removing seafood out of it's shell.

Heres the best pic of him i could get last night,I believe mine is indo-pac too, Ive always wanted one and the price on him allowed me to talk the wife into getting him. I'm not in a hurry for him to get bigger and think hes beautiful as is!
