New foxface adapting to the tank

Brought a one-spot foxface home yesterday. She was grey and scary looking while drip acclimation. Colored up beautifully within a few hours. She was accepted by her new family. My Maroon even followed her around a little. Nothing aggressive at all.
Evening feeding came and she stayed hidden. Lots of caves in the tank and I couldn't find her at all. This morning she had the camouflage coloring again, and stays in the back. I know it can take a bit to adapt and start eating, but other than time, can I do anything?
Does this breed typically go sleep in a cave for night and color up during the day?
She's out now (10:00am) and looks fantastic and active.

Yup, ime foxfaces are skittish in general, but once settled they are quite active. Mine sleeps in his camouflage coloring.

Yes they , as with all the rabbitfish, do have great ability to change color. It is not uncommon for them to be shy for a while, but they usually come around.

I had a juvenile one spot foxface. I came home the other day to find it dead up against my jabeo WP25. It's a great fish, extremely shy but it was beginning to come around. I'm not sure if it's something I did wrong, but it would often sleep out in the open with my clownfish near my powerhead and would sometimes get stuck against it. They seem to have really weak swimming power if it's being held against the powerhead. Just something that I noticed with my juvenile on several occasions. It also took awhile for it to come around to seaweed/nori. I would recommend soaking food in garlic initially.

Best of luck!

Tonight for dinner the chef prepared Spirulina flakes. The Foxface ate really well, which is a great sign. But the Maroon and Cardinalfish spat it out. I'm thinking I'll need to provide a buffet style to keep everyone happy. A mix of thawed mysis and brine for the others.
Nori seems popular. Is there a specific kind? Or is grocery store variety fine?
Also, how long would I keep a piece of romaine lettuce on the veggie clip before it becomes foul?

Tagging along, also interested to know this.

I'm not a big fan of grocery store nori, it's pretty thin and bland compared to the fish food brands. I like the TLF Julian Sprung green and purple, and Ocean Nutrition red and green for my fish.

Also, unless you're just trying to get a grazing response, romaine isn't something you want to offer your fish. It has no nutritional value and certainly isn't a natural food source for them. If you want to do it anyway, I would offer them a new leaf each day and try not to leave it in the tank for more than 6 hours.

^+1 mine does the exact same thing. The coloring difference is nothing to be concerned with, that's their way of saying don't mess with me

I personally used Julian Sprung's SeaVeggies Seaweed (Green). I bought it from my LFS, but I believe they're available on most commercial websites.

I feed lettuce to one of my rabbits now-for bulk not nutrition. She is growing fast with the regular diet, but is always looking for more- so I give her a leaf or two. it really will not "foul" a tank in 24 hours, but I like to leave it in less than 8. I think it is reasonable to put a piece in before work and remove the remains when you return.
