New guys - baby Regal and Venustus

Easy fireball...
honestly, I could care less if you buy from him..
it is people like you that ruin this forum...
no need to name call...have you read the user's agreement?

He became my friend due to my being a customer...
if you do a search of any online vendor you will find neg posts...

for you to say he intentionally ships sick fish is insane...
if you read the entire thread you will see I said I have had shipping glitches with every online vendor I use...it happens...

Why do "people" like me ruin this forum, because I have a difference of opinions from you? Please get over yourself. And last time I checked saying someone is delusional is not name calling so let's get past 4th grade please.

To the op, sorry to hear you lost both fish. I got a venustus a few months back from Liveaquaria and it ate 15 minutes out of the bag in qt. Glad to hear that NYA is trying to make things right with you. Good luck to you.

They definitely are, so we'll see what happens with the make up shipment. I'd note that both of these fish are not supposed to be covered under the 14 day guarantee, and like I said before, Michael is working with me at least on the Regal.

I'd also note that they have received a new shipment of Regal angels and have specifically told me that they are not ready to send them, which shows some responsibility on their part.

Sorry to hear. Those are historically tough fish to keep. Coupled with small size (too small, IMO, but that's just me) I think you had a lot stacked against you.

Thanks...its my second attempt. The first one was from a local guy here in Ohio a few years ago and it came in almost dead.

The size had me worried, but was also kind of exciting. If I order another one, I think I'll go with the larger size, even though the new 1" specimens are eating - Michael sent me a video this afternoon.

Here's my issue with tiny fish like this. If the fish is healthy, no disease, great, you're golden. But if it has a problem, guess what, you have to treat a fish that requires feeding on an hourly timescale. What are the chances your treatment will affect this feeding response. Somewhat likely, at least. Then what? You risk a fish that needs constant feeding, not feeding. It's a slippery slope from there. My experience with a tiny navarchus angel was very much like this.

I personally would never ever buy a tiny fish like a 1" regal angel sight unseen. I don't care who it's from.

JMO, YMMV.

Hard to disagree with your logic. Stupid question, YMMV?

My LFS has (probably had) a 4" Red Sea regal eating mysid for $100. Stood at the tank for half an hour trying to figure out a way to take it home, alas, tank too small and I'm fond of my zoos.

Lol I'm 39... you have no excuse!

I thought you were younger for some reason... :strange:

I'm almost 18 and I still have no clue what some of these odd things people type on the internet are, such as the YMMV...

To the OP: Sorry about losing both fish. I wish you better luck next time you attempt them.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your fish. I really hope the replacement fish does much better.

I'm waiting on a replacement fish from NYA as well and really debating on whether or not to go with something that is easier to keep since there isn't any guarantee on the replacement and you lose your money if they perish.

Sorry for the lost, I can tell you from experience it really sucks
I probably kill more angel here in the forum so i cant really relate.
Regal is very hard to keep In general, I tried them few times and was not successful. Currently I have 2 in the main tank on hyposalinity and doing well, eating pellets since day one. Hopefully it continues

Venustus is something I never tried even though they are pretty and cheaper than any large angel like rock beauty beause its very hard to feed so I don't have the nerves to try them.

Regarding NYA I never dealt with Michael but my nerdy fish friend did and the fish that he got was not on a perfect condition and the shipping was rather high even the replacement.

Personally I think its better to give your business to more customer first vendor like LA Even though I never order from them I recommend them since they use
the most expensive wholesaler in 104 st to insure the best possible health of the livestock. it seems like a no brainer since they stand behind their livestock. Cheaper fish is not good if they are dead.
Just my 2 cents.

Hillarious, I thought you were quite a bit older for some reason.

Starting to have this same debate with myself. They have the small (1") venustus back in stock, and I saw a video of them eating.

But they also have larger venustus in stock and those are eating really well in the video they sent me.

I've also been looking at that yellow head butterfly they've had for a month or so.

Or maybe I just use the credit on that goldflake, which is a fish I really want. Decisions.

Do Venustus come from an exclusive area or do they come from the phillipines as well? Did Michael mentioned where they country or origin?

Yeah that's pretty much where I am as well. $200+ is a good chunk of change for a fish. Risking a fish as difficult as venustus or diamond tail flasher wrasse doesn't sound like a good option to me. I may just end up with a chevron tang or something along those lines that are costly but have much higher survival rates.
