New Leemar 237 gallon is finally home

I noticed a lot of views but no comments. What gives? Good, bad, likey, no likey, opinions, suggestions. I'm using starboard under the rocks, so we'll see how that does over time.

Looks great. Is that BRS rock? How many pounds did you go with? What did you use to put it together, rods or just putty?

The starboard idea is interesting. I like how you went with black. Are you planning to use any sand or just BB? I was thinking of going mostly BB, but with a thin layer of sand mostly for looks. I was thinking of just using some black egg crate under the rocks.

Looking freakin awesome

That tank will have to sit on the wood floor, cross-grain, for a long time to indent the floor. I wouldn't worry about it, at all.

Thanks guys!! Should have water in the next week or two. It's a mix of BRS reef saver and pukani.
Yes I used acrylic rods and putty. I am going with a shallow sand bed also mainly for looks. This will be my 4th tank I've had over the years but the first that I will be cycling from beginning to end. Learned my lesson over the years. I want what's in my tank to be what I put in it. No surprise Mantis showing up years later wiping out my CUC, no battling with mushrooms, mojanos, or aiptasia. Yes I know I kn

Oops,
Yes I know I can still get those pests but this time I am going to be extremely careful. Will quarantine everything, dip all corals going in and just do the best I can keeping pests out. Wish me luck. It's so exciting starting from scratch

that's close to 150 pounds will add another 100 pounds into the sump.

online from a place called kingplastics. you can also get it from Tap Plastics. Most people say it is not necessary but I felt better placing the rocks on something other than the glass

Yeah, I need to look into that. I wanted to put something under the rocks, was thinking about black egg crate. But I think your solution might be better for wrasses and burrowing creatures.

I was thinking about going the egg crate route but figured it's more area for detritus to get trapped under the rocks.

I always lay down a piece of acrylic between my rocks and the tank bottom. Perhaps it is unnecessary, but it can't do any harm. I worry about rocks 'point loading' at certain spots on the bottom glass.

That rock scape is awesome. The two middle pieces almost look the same. Not telling you to switch it but if you turn the right one 180 degrees it almost creates a little arch in the middle.

I agree, I changed it up a little. I'm putting water in it now and will post some pics once filled

the tank and stand look incredible!! really happy to see leemar make a come back!

rock work is great id say! maybe try adding smaller rocks around the bottom of the rock structure to have a bit more real estate for stuff like acans and rics?

the fronts seem really steep so im just worried about shadowing down the road for you when corals start to fill in around the rock work. you def have room to push some of those fixtures back a few inches so the rock work can taper into the sand a little smoother.

lets see the filtration!

here's an update of what's going on so far. A lot done but still a lot to do. The other 2 Hydra lights are on the way. They are on backorder. The space under the cabinet to the right will house a reservoir for top off. Slowly but surely things are coming together
