New Logo Thread

Anyone that has some Ideas as to a Awesome looking New Logo for the Club.
Please post all related Info here on this thread as to keep it all together as one collection of samples and Ideas.

I'm an artist, and would like to try my hand at this. I've designed logos before. But I have a few questions..

1) Does the logo have to have a clownfish in it? Or is another tpe of fish acceptible?

2) Are the initials "MTRC" to be part of all designs? Or can the logo be just an image?

3) Does the logo need to be in color?

I've attached some samples of my work - they are very low resolution - so I'm not sure how bad they will look. LOL - remember, I'm on dial-up!

1Clown Fish Not Necessary
2MTRC should be apparent in the Logo
3Color is a must IMO
4Other fish are allowed or Corals Etc.
We are looking for a real Eye Catching design it can be simple or totally out there, Just that everyone like it and it catches your attention. All Ideas are welcome and everyone is encouraged to give us your input even if you can't do the Logo yourself, You still may have a great idea. Get my Drift all can make suggestions here.

I hadn't had a chance to work on it, but I was gonna play around with the idea.....my artwork may leave some to be desired since I haven't practiced in MANY years.

Yeah, I tried do something as well. I have shamed myself and my family.

However, when those passer angels get full adults, man they are gorgeous.
 
IMO, you should not just "Borrow" pictures from the web. Unless you get the owners consent. This could open the club up to legal action from the company or owner of the material. I know that people do it all the time, heck i even do it sometimes. It's just since this is going to be the face of our club it and this has been a HOT issue in the web community. I would hate to see the club get sued for something like this.

I think this would be a great time for the club to snap some pictures for our web artist to use. Then we would never have to worry about this issue.

I would be glad to throw my hat in the ring for working on this logo but I need some legal content (pictures) to work with.

Yeah I thought about that as well but since the club is not making a profit from it in any way I dont think there would be a problem. I think the real issues come from you using someone elses work to make money.
 
Any time you use someone elses work without there consent your open yourself to legal issues. There are law firms that look for this kind of thing. I happen to know someone that got nailed for this exact thing and it was for a private non profit website.

Wouldn't selling t-shirts and things be making a profit? I'm just saying in today's times of copyright infringement/protection cases, i think i would be better if we tried to avoid the whole issue.
 
Point Noted, I have some Professional Shots that were taken of my 185 in it's Heyday that are IMO very good photos. I'll bring them to the meeting and see if there is something that could satisfy everyone. Any one else that has great photos should also post them or bring them to the Meeting OK

No biggie. I was not targeting you or anyone in specific, just noticed that this point was not said. I felt that since I do this for a living and I'm in the club it was my duty to call it out.

If we are going to vote on the new design at the next meeting, we need to get the images before then. Unless I'm mistaken and the logo design deadline is not at the next meeting.

It would be cool to see what you could come up with - you did a pretty good job revising the old logo.
