New LTA!

I finally took the plunge and purchased an LTA this morning. I had been looking at this one all last week and watched it feed so I decided to grab it. Acclimation went well this morning and by 12:30 she was placed it the spot I had made in the tank.

Then the hard part..I had to go to work without the base being attached. I adjusted to flow in the tank to keep her in the hole on the sandbed. It was hard going through the day wondering what I would come home to, but she dug in and looks good.

Pic is in my gallery and I will post one here when the site speeds up again.

Dude, 16 days is nowhere near enough time to add a nem to your tank.
Your tank most likely hasn't even cycled.
Min rec is 6 months running b4 adding a nem.

16 days? Where did that come from? The tank has been set up and running since the last week of August 2006. I just recently got the lights I needed before adding anything other than the cleanup crew.

I am not good at resizing pics so I apologize for the small pic. I tried to delete it but RC would not let me.

I was going off your gallery statement just getting started on 2-6-07
Not trying to be mean, I was just taken back a bit.
Alot of people try to rush stuff way too much.

No worries at all. I just made the connection myself.
I have spent the last year reading, researching and asking a few questions here. I knew my tank was ready when I got my lights but it took me a few days to actually get up the nerve to purchase it.

Very cool.
Just checked your gallery again, that nem does look really nice and healthy.
Looks like it's starting to settle in pretty well.

Well its been three days and she is still in the same spot. (I know I just jinxed myself) I gave her a small piece of silverside last night and it ate fine.
Its hard to tell in the pics but should I remove some of the sand around it so it lays flat? Its kinda positioned like a funnel.(mouth is lower in the sand than the rest of it)

Well she had not moved until sometime today. I got home from work and ate dinner then went to check on the tank. I look at the sandbed and no LTA. I look up and see it stuck to my m620.(yes the intakes are covered but not good enough I guess)

I have turned off the 620 and have it dangling hoping the LTA will dislodge itself(which it appears to be doing) Most of the tenticles are gone, I can't see to much because it is mouth first into the seio. How long should I wait befor it starts to melt if it will? It still has its color but I just can't see it that well.

My ammo, trate, trite are zero, SG-1.025, temp is 80 and it has been eating every other day since I brought it home.

Really Bummed..

Yikes!!! Sorry to hear that.
Best thing to do is let it dislodge itsele. If it's a healthy specimen, then recovery might be possible, albeit slow.
Keep an eye on it and keep us posted.

Sorry to hear that. Not sure how long with the "melting" time frame, and I'm sure every case is different. Hopefully it recovers. I would have lots of water on hand for a water change.

Well the only thing holding it to the PH now is the foot. Everything else is is free but it is still holding on. I just moved it closer to the sand to see if it will reattach. Should I turn the lights back on or leave them off for the time being?

Is any part of the mouth torn, or the foot? Ususally these are the most deadly types of injuries, if it can't grab hold of substrate or open/close it's mouth to eat, then there's a problem.

No damage at all to the foot. It had reattached to some rocks/sand. The mouth looks ok as well. It looks like the tenticles were hurt the worst, that is the only place that has been ripped or torn that I can see.
