Yesterday I ordered a Mag from LA been wanting an all purple mag for awhile. Order came this morning but sadly the mag is DOA. Here are some pictures of what came. Anyone ever experience this from LA?

This picture you can see the large cut on the side.

The mag's foot is intact and super sticky but judging by the amount of guts in the water this mags been sick for awhile.

Costumer service was great about the refund and wanting to ship a new mag but after this I'm a little nervous so I told them I would call back later.

I did not try Cipro mag is in hospital tank at home. I'll see how bad it looks when I get home and make a call. It had about a 2" long cut at the edge of its disc with guts coming out.

Since I got home mag has only looked worse. I put cipro in the water been in cipro since 4pm with no change still totally deflated. Going to leave it in the tank till tomorrow night and see what happens.

The water keeps getting a funny scent like latex.

The necrotic tissue need to be remove with water change. As long as there are slough off tissue, I change near 100% of the water every day and add medication after change. Doing this until it die or get well and no more tissue slough off the anemone.

So far I've done about 8 water changes. I made up 10 gal of cipro water. I have the anemone in a rubber made tub that holds about 1.5 gal with an air pump for some flow. The amount off crap coming out and off him seemed crazy to use full 10 gal for now. This last change few min ago not much junk was coming off it so i think before bed ill put it back into the TT with full 10 gal and cipro.

Sad to say the mag is dead. :/ Totally fell apart sad that big supplier such as LA doesnt know about Cipro treatment so many more anemones could be saved if they did.

Funny you say that. When I was at my LFS a few weeks ago I mentioned Cipro treatment, and got looked at like I had a second head. Too much trouble I suppose.

Sorry to hear, but this does happen. While Cipro works very well, it must be administered before necrosis sets in. Looks like this one was far too gone to be treated, but I'm glad you made the effort. It's good to know that LA will give you a refund or credit, but I do wonder what the nem looked like before they shipped it.

+1. +1. I experienced the same thing. I was told they didn't have a place to QT the nems. I was confused by this since a LFS should have a empty tank laying around, and should be willing to learn how to QT a nem, especially now that we have a proven method. I was a bit frustrated, but I realize that it's not my business, so I can't tell them what to do.

More like lack of knowledge.
The protocol is clearly defined. I'm hoping more LFS invest the time to learn to care for these nems. I would pay more money for one that's been treated and thriving than rolling the dice on a newly imported one. Once the LFS catch on to this, everyone wins.

I think I will insist that when vendor sell me anemone, that they ship the anemone in water that have 25 mg cipro/gal. I think if they do this, there will be a lot of anemone save.
