New MP60 pump from Ecotech

"The MP60w ES is slated to be available later this year through EcoTech’s network of premiere reef stores and online vendors with an MSRP of $695. Keep checking our website for an exact release date."

these people are on friggin drugs..

I have no doubt Eco will have a fair amount of takers as this MP60 seems like a good powerhead for certain applications in larger aquariums.

That being said, I'm extremely disappointed how easily some water droplets very recently shorted out my MP40w's driver. I'm also kind of miffed that Eco suggests repair of the shorted out unit (if possible!) will cost me $35 (or more) and perhaps I should sink my money into their newer (more water resilient) driver at a cost of $100(!).

Things such as this will cause people to rethink the design of their systems :reading:

attaching the driver to the side of that aquarium in the demo video seems like a good way to get it wet and IME that means you'll need to save your money for the next generation new and improved driver :spin3:

Agreed. My model had the bearing that seized. I did have to put in a lot of time trying to get a hold of someone, but they replaced the impeller and got the parts to me over night.

Mine also had the wiring that came loose on the dry side. When I sent it in for the driver repair it looked like they tried to fix the dry side wiring with a heat gun and some glue. It came loose again almost immediately and I had to correct it with some electrical tape.

Also, I had the same water issue that you did and after disassembling the old driver and assembling the new one... I officially call shenanigans on their claim that the upgraded driver is any more water resistant than the old one.

Long story short, the ecotechs definitely have some fancy features, but just aren't worth the $ (in my opinion).
