new pics of the garden

good. Just noticed the sun is starting to hit the tank again....need to get some pictures!

up to 1.1ml vodka/day for the next week!

I am at 1.5 ml for this, the 3rd week. Up to 2 ml next week. Based on what I've read, I think the nitrate bubble will burst in the 4th or 5th week. We shall see.....

Yes, I meant in addition to the amount you are dosing currently, next week you're going to add approx .3ml-.5ml to the current amount. I was counting the maximum as 1.8ml-2ml. It sounds like you're going to actually be dosing 2.0ml next week, not 1.8 as I initially thought. I just picked 1.8ml because that's what I noticed the article had.
I need to learn more on dosing vodka and what the timelines are starting with that link you gave, maybe scanning for vodka dosing threads here too. It's interesting. I always love to read people's experience with it, and the before and after shots are like... insane.
Thanks, still crossing my fingers for you.

Curious,
What side of the tank did you put the 14k bulb, SPS or the softie side(I assume the softie side but cannot tell)? Also, why the two different bulbs? Testing to see which you prefer? When it is time to replace them will use the same combo or switch to using two of the type you’ve come to enjoy the most?

I have the 250w version of your fixture and have coincidentally narrowed my bulb choice down to the two you are using, would help me to know your preference.

BTW, without a shadow of doubt this is the most pleasing tank I’ve seen on RC. Excellent job!

Thanks, Tyrenlds. Most of the photos I've posted here have the 14K on the softie side. My camera doesn't really make the difference noticable but you can tell in person. Why do I do it? I just like to see how different bulbs affect colors, growth, etc. I try to go for as much color variety as possible in my tank. Bulb types can really make a difference.

I plan on continuing to use the 12K Reeflux over the SPS side. I've pretty much settled on that one, but I recently swapped out the 14K Phoenix for a 20K Ushio. The 20K Ushio is actually slightly less blue than the 14K Phoenix. If you want a good dose of blue without sacrificing too much growth, I recommend you go with the 20K Ushio. I've heard the 250W version has among the highest PAR output of just about any bulb on the market.

Reeflux 12k is THE one for sps. That's a given now. I think yourself and Melev have proven that theory. It really makes a difference in the color, as I can see in yours and Melev's tanks.

Regarding Phoenix 14k; Seapug, you're rocking my world. You switched to Ushio 20k? Wow. I guess I have to read up on those as well. :p
So more PAR with Ushio 20k and it's a bit more white than Phoenix? Now, I would like that. I liked the Phoenix 14k because I couldn't see a crisper bulb that is white with just a hint of blue. But if there's something a bit whiter, that's what I would be looking for. I've gotta go back to Sanjay's site, haven't been there in awhile.

What differences have you seen in your zoas, lps and sps since changing bulbs?

Told you I wouldn't be the only one who thought your tank was totm worthy. :smokin:

Wow, awesome tank.

I have a 55g that I'm planning on going zoa and xenia only. I love the combination of those two corals a lot for some reason!

Sorry for the newb question but what is the white xenia looking coral above the zoa's?
