New Reefer

I'm going into my sophomore year of college, so I will finally have a room of my own instead of a dorm. Since I want to go to Med School, I've ruled out the idea of a dog for now, but Ive always thought that fish tanks were really cool! I've got 2 10 gallon tanks laying around and so I think I want to start a reef tank!

Heres the Plan so far...

10 gallon display with a DIY PVC overflow down to a 10 gallon sump/fuge. In there probably some sand, rubble rock and chaeto. Filter sock with chemipure blue nano.

In the tank I would like a clownfish, a goby, and a shrimp. Is that too much? I could do without the goby/shrimp. A CUC. For corals I like zoas, gsp, xenia, and frogspawn/toadstool/torch coral. I cant really decide if I should do all of the last three, or just one of them or a mix.... Any Advice?

Overall what do you think? Do you guys think this equipment and setup will get the job done?

Sounds like a pretty solid plan.. I didn't see a light for over the 'fuge on your list though. GSP and xenia will be no problem with that light. Also the few fish you mentioned should be fine. Go to liveaquaria.com and research them.

For your RO/DI water I would simply get it from one of your labs, I don't remember any of our labs that didn't have RO/DI water.

Valentini89- Thanks! Ive been thinking about and researching it for a while now, so I was hoping I had thought of a pretty good setup! And I will definitely check out liveaquaria.com to do some research on the fish and corals I plan to put in the tank!

thegrun- I hadnt even thought about that! But I think that would work! All of our labs have RO/DI water just like you said! Ill check into that!

I'm looking at that particular rock for my new tank, curious to know how it goes - cycling etc.... Think your stock list sounds fine, great lights for corals by the way. Keep us posted and yes fish tanks are very cool!!
