Hi Everyone.... We are currently testing a prototype skimmer built for Sequence that was made around their ORCA Needlewheel pump. This unit is made to be equivelant to the Royal-Exclusiv Bubble King skimmers, but at a fraction of the cost. The unit we are currently test has dimensions as follows:

15" x 15" x 5.5" - Base Box

12" x 15.5" - Reaction Chamber

11" Reducing down to 6" - Riser Tube

32" - Overall Height

1/2" Venturi

I am estimating the capacity of this up to 600gal heavily stocked, and up to 1000gal lightly stocked.

Here are a few pictures....

Having owned a BK 300 for almost two years it's nice to see some of those features built into new skimmers on the market.

One things for sure though, if those thumb screws need to be taken off to dump/clean the collection cup that would get old real fast even at a reduced price. The ease of removing the cup from the BK insures it stays clean. ;)

The thumb screws just need about two turns each for the cup to swivel and come off. I do agree though, that a locking neck would be nicer, but at least you do not need to remove the screws each time to dum pit. The cup also has a drain fitting on it, but of course the cleaner you can keep the riser the more efficient it is going to be.

That's not so bad if they are key-hole type. It's just I can't count how many times I've dropped nylon screws in or behind the sump on early (20 years ago) design skimmers.

Wow Jeremy, awesome skimmer!!!

How do I have to feed the skimmer ?

Do you know more or less how much will be the cost ? and also when the Sequence people expect to sell it ?

Cheers,

Mario

You would need a pump to feed the skimmer with. Of course you can vary the rate at which you feed as well.

We are hoping to have them in stock and ready to ship by the first of June.

Pricing should be in the $1400 range, which is pretty good if you compare it to a EuroReef RC750, EuroReef RC1000 (which this unit is going head to head with at the shop here), and the Bubble King equivelants.

Thanks,
Jeremy

It will definitely outperform an RC750 in my opinion so far. It's still breaking in a little, but so far I think it can keep up with, or come very close to keeping up with the RC1000 running right next to it.

I don't have the specs on the unit just yet. I am hoping to get that in the very near future though. I will post some more updated pics as things move along with it.

Count me very interested. I have about a 500 gallon. Which pump would you recommend to feed the skimmer with. The pump will have to push the water up 6 feet to the skimmer. I was thinking the Snapper or Dart. How big will the feed connection be? I would think 1+1/2 inch.

Keep us updated on progress,

Thanks
