I agree, gotta due something with the cup drain.

is there an ozone port already installed?

There is a plug that comes with the skimmer for the cup drain, so you do not have to use that if you don't want to.

There is not an ozone port installed on the skimmer already, however you could easily inject through the venturi if you wanted to.

Like Jeremy said the screws are very simple to use and no big deal at all..

Here are some new pics of the skimmer. Sorry they are not the best...

Update, Good News!

Update, Good News!

The skimmers are on pallets and shipping out to me today, so I am hoping to either have them next Tuesday (July 3rd), or at the latest Thursday (July 5th). We will ship these beasts right out the door as the pallets are dropped off!

Thanks,
Jeremy

WOOOOHHHOOOOOO
I cant wait. I cant run my tank much longer without a skimmer. the water changes are killing me.

I still don't really understand this one element of skimmer design. Why do so many manufacturers put those close-to-the-neck lids on their cups? All I can see is that it would put downward pressure on the foam head and restrict skimming. And they are a PITA to clean too!

Jeremy and/or Nick,

I have been following this thread and am currently in the market for a new skimmer for my tank.
I have a few questions I was hoping you could answer:

1. Would this be a gross overkill on a 210 gal display with 265 gal total water volume? Med to heavily stocked.

2. How far up is the return pipe? I an concerned with how high it needs to be to clear the side of my sump wall. What is height of its range (lowest setting, to the highest).

3. How is the noise? Is it pretty quiet, I too would have it plumbed to sit next to tank outside the cabinet.

Thanks,
Craig

1. I honestly do not think it would be way overkill, however I have always been a big fan of putting large skimmers on tanks too. It will however be more skimmer than what you would ever need on that size tank. If you compare it to the Deltec that would be recommended for your tank, such as the AP701 which retails for $1079, then you're only $220 over the price of Deltec, and getting a heck of a lot more skimmer to boot that you can grow with. If you "never" plan on upgrading to a larger system though, then it might be wise to just go with something smaller and save the money for something else. You could grow quite a bit with this skimmer though and not have any worries at all.

2. The bottom of the return pipe is at 18". This is a fixed height, and you would not be able to alter this unless you wanted to try some gate valve modification with it and lower it some. After you come out of the "T" fitting then you could lower it as much as you want, but you really can't go any higher than what it is at now.

3. The skimmer is extremely quiet, to where you can't even hear it running unless you're in a room that is completely silent and you're right up on top of it.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I totally agree with Jeremy... I have always love putting bigger skimmers on smaller tanks...

Also the measurements that he gave are dead on... I don't see a problem at all...

Nick

The skimmers are all shipping out the door today to everyone who has ordered so far! If any of you have any questions on setup, or anything else please let me know!

Thanks again!
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

That's great news. :D

Can you ship mine to me NEXT DAY AIR and put those shipping charges on Nick's Platinum card?!?!? (J/K...this is partially his fault anyway!)

Thanks,

Luis

Holy Cr@p...I just received 3 UPS shipping confirmations!!!

The three boxes equal.........95.2 lbs!!!!! :eek1: I may have to reinforce the spot I am putting this on.

I assume 1 box each for body, plumbing and pump.

(cough, cough) I think I'm coming down with something (cough, cough) I may have to call in sick next Monday! (cough, cough)

lol no problem about the next day charges... I am just hope everyone is as happy as i am with it.... I am so happy i am ordering another one... I meant to today but lost track at time at work lol....

Keep the questions coming when everyone receives theirs and def. post some pics...

Nick

Im getting a lot of questions from guys in my club, and I know one has already bought one already....

I have the spot ready, the area cleaned, the plumbing laid.

Maybe we should have a prize for the first one installed and running on monday morning....

does this skimmer require a feed pump? or can I run it straight from an overflow drain? Is this an external skimmer only?
