*NEW* Sequence Skimmer - Any Interest?

I just installed my skimmer in a temp location.

Jeremy,

I turned the air valve wide open 100%, was that right?
what are the 2 small white screws for?
What is the extra pipe that goes with the pump for?
Here are 2 pics:

Deepsea2005- The air valve wide open is fine... Just keep the water level a little lower till it breaks in...

The 2 small screws are for the fittings that screw into the pump. They hold those gray pieces still... You should see the 2 small holes..

The extra pipe is just as you said, extra just in case you wanted to run it differently.

The pics looks good and keep the questions coming guys...

Nick

Ironfan- you can run it thru an overflow and yes the skimmer is external. The pump can't be place in the water...

Nick

Deepsea2005- you want to keep around 400 gallons per hour flowing thru the skimmer. But to adjust the water level. You see the pipe that says open and close. Well you need to slowly twist that so the close is near the T part... The closer near the T the more it closes and the more water stays in the skimmer

Nick

Deepsea so you just got yours up and running what are your first thoughts of the skimmer? How loud whould you say the skimmer is? What feed pump are you using? How did you return the water to your sump, and how did you control the splash effect?
Sorry for all the questions but i have been thinking about changing my skimmer also. With that said what skimmer were you running before this and please give us some performence updates this week.

Nick/Deepsea...

Would you mind posting (if you have it) a picture of the water inlet on the skimmer. Also, what size pipe is it? I am wanting to get the feed made up and ready prior to the skimmer arrival.

Thanks,

paul.

Deepsea2005- no problem buddy, ask all the questions you need.

pwhitby - the inlet to the skimmer is a barb fitting. You can either use 1 inch or 1 1/4... I will try to get you a pic soon...

Nick

Hey nick so how much nog are you pulling with the new skimmer daily and what skimmer did you replace it with/

Hey Guys.... I've been away from the board for a couple of days, my apologies.

Nick, thank you very much for helping out, I greatly appreciate it!

Here is a picture of the skimmer in the permanent location.
Randy and Paul,
My previous skimmer was MRC3 Recirculation. It was a good skimmer but I want a bigger one, so I can have more fish.
So far, the Reeflo is perfect. The pump is relatively quiet.
I use mag5 with ¾ inch pipe to feed the skimmer and calcium reactor.
I angle the return water pipe so there is no splash.
Over all, I give this one a thump up.
One thing I’m concerned is customer service.
Jeremy,
Do you handle it yourself or we have to deal with the company.
By the way, who make the Reeflo skimmer?

Thanks,

Deepsea2005, Nice installation!

Do you guys think there will be any issues with cleaning since it doesn't look like you can disassemble the lower part of the skimmer?

I can guarantee you that there will be no problems with customer service. MDM/Sequence is top-notch -- they stand by their products. I'm looking into a Bubblemaster and just saw their lousy warranty -- 3 months and only 6 months on the pumps.

You have both a long warranty and a company (and store) that stand by their products/customers.

Sleep well. (And note, this is from Dr. Good Luck Himself -- I know a thing or two about failed products. Sequence took terrific care of me and my Hammerhead pump when I needed it).

ranran - Of course, but with the free shipping we have to sell it for $1399, not $1299! ;)

Deepsea2005 - We are doing the warranty / customer service on the unit. If there is a pump problem, that is something Reeflo would most likely want to handle themselves though.

The body is being built by an OEM for Reeflo.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Thanks Jeremy.
Jeremy/Nick, how is the air valve work?
Should I leave it wide open or should I close it a little bit?

Thanks,

Thanks Jeremy.

Thanks,

Leave the valve wide open! There is no need to restrict the airflow on this unit at all.

Jeremy could you pm me a shipping price for sending the unit aircargo to PDX Portland OR I would get the unit the next day and i think it would cost about the same as ups ground.

Any nog updates on how muck gunk these are pulling?
