New Store

It looks like a new store that advertises both freshwater and saltwater has opened up in Powell in the little industrial park behind Crowne College. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but plan to drive by this weekend and see what they have. Have you guys seen it or heard anything about it?

Is it Indoor Oceans finally openning their doors, or is it a different store???

Nope. Not Indoor Oceans. The name escapes me at the moment. I would not have had a clue they were there, but they are advertising on that big digital sign next to the Walmart on Clinton Hwy.

I'll look for the sign on my way home this evening... I was hoping Kent (Indoor Oceans) got a new partner or was able to get things going himself... Oh well...

Here's some information:

It is one half of the group that was doing Indoor Oceans. The 1200 gallon tank is up and running with a few fish in it. Currently they are not heavily stocked. Mostly just clowns right now with one watchman goby. The have a couple shrimp and a couple of clams, one maxima and one squasmosa. There is one colony of zoas, a couple of mushroom rocks, and a few different Kenya trees. I was told today that they are expecting a large fish shipment within a week or so. Trent Roberts is the manager. I believe Bobby Roberts is one of the owners. Once they get things going, it looks to be a good source - especially for people in the Powell/Karns area.

Scott, I don't think they are open on the weekends.

Just stopped by on the way home and it is a very nice store. Too bad it is so out of the way. It is basically the same store that was going to open up on Callahan, but they did not have the rights to the name with the other partner bailed out. That big 1200G tank is impressive. They have tanks lit by T5 pendants set up to take corals in the future. And a bunch of room for fish. As for supplies and dry goods and food, they are stocked not quite as good as Aquarium but have a good variety. And the prices on the few items I checked were noticeably lower than Aquarium's prices.

In addition, they do have the coffee shop section like they were going to have over on Callahan.

If these guys last, I would say that Knoxville now has 3 stores worth visiting.

Went there today

Went there today

I went by there today and its a Nice store and FRIENDLY.. Got the whole tour .. talked filtration and there pricing is GREAT . i couldent resist a torch coral 9 heads for $39 :eek1: its a NICE torch. the guy told me there going to be like the wholesale to the public. aparently the owner of the store owns the building and buisness that they are attached to. cant wait for then to get fully stocked up. said there limited at the moment because they wer still seting up quarantine tanks. but im Deff going back! they had a Nice maxima clam also. not much fish wise YET. he said the more imput from customers and people checking them out would help determin what all they are gonna try to get in.

Bobby Roberts is the owner of the store, half owner of Nova/TCB, and helps run Nova Green. My mom owns the other half of both Nova/TCB and Nova Green.

I stopped by... has a lot of potential. As Scott said, prices looked better than the Aquarium on dry goods I checked. Good selection of tanks, many reef-ready. Livestock setup is still being built, but so far it looks good. The few corals they had looked nice and were very reasonably priced, e.g. good sized zoa or gsp colonies for $30. Very friendly - said they could special order anything. Pretty out-of-the-way place to put a store though - they're not exactly going to get walk-in business!

Swung by yesterday and it was a pretty cool lookin' place with lots of potential. A little difficult finding the store BUT it's fun and the personal are very polite and willing to give ya the full "tour".

I also stopped by to check out the new store in town. The people are great there, I think it's going to be a very nice addition to knoxville reefers.

Im going to stop by on my way home from work this afternoon and if its a good store I will be pretty happy as it will be about half the distance as it is to aquarium from my house :D then agian that might not be a good thing lol

!!

!!

I stopped by yesterday and it is a really clean store with lots of room and potential and the personnel were very polite I really liked the 1200gal. tank to bad it wont be a reef!!! lol

The only thing I didn't like is there selection of equipment they didnt really have any higher end stuff so hopefully the selection will grow I did see a flame angel I really liked does anyone have any experience on these in a reef if so could you PM me so this thread will stay on track

a flame angel is a dwarf angel so it could be ok, but they are said to have nipped at stony corals, soft corals, and clam mantles. My dad has a flameback angel and I have yet to see it nip at anything in his tank.
