do to all the crazy weather i've lost many fish and now getting ready to swap my 75 gallon saltwater tank with my 125 gallon freshwater what is the best way to swap. Did away with freshwater and moving everything to 125 gallon, never swapped a saltwater tank before not real sure of the does and don'ts of this process any advice would be greatly appreciated. And selling 75 gallon perfecto with stand and 48" coralife power compact 4X65 watts 2 10,000k bulbs and 2 blue actnic bulbs. pc light is 3 months old got new one on order for new setup. selling light for 200.00 bucks or o.b.o., and tank with glass canopy plus stand for 200.00 o.b.o. if anyone is interested after i make the swap, might be selling a penn plax cascade 1200 cannister filter also.

Glad to have you! I'd just put things in buckets and transfer everything over...hopefully someone else will come along shortly and help you out :)

I went from a 20 to a 72 over a year ago. I set the 72 up ahead of time and let it cycle. Then when the cycle was done I just moved things over as if I just bought them from the fish store. I didn't have much though since it was just a 20 gallon. It was also easier because the 72 was in a different spot. If you are putting the 125 in the same spot as your current tank I think it gets a little more complicated.

How much rock do you have in the 75? I went from a 75 gallon to a 240.. I used 250 lbs of base rock from Hirocks.com and then add my 85 lbs of live rock to the tank with hardly any noticeable cycle. The base rock looks great now some pieces look better than the rock I bought Live. Let me know and you can swing by any time. Your just down the road.

As long as you don't go with uncured rock you should not go through a big cycle switching the tanks. Just make sure the rock you do get is for sure cured rock and transport it in water quickly and put it in your tank.

i have about 80 pounds of live rock that is in 75 gallon, the 125 has been running with saltwater since we got power back sunday after storms its only half full the rest of water i going to transfer from 75 gallon setup. been adding stress zyme and saltwater bio zyme for almost 1 week added 45 pounds of live sand and will be adding about 45 more that is in 75g. living room is a mess switching tank from one room to living room hey lonnie all the live rock i'm using is in pics on living reef forum if you want to see i'm going to find some where here locally to get some more cured fiji or tonga rock. i'll post pics once i figure out how in this forum.

what about using other dry rock like at local fish stores some got big pieces of lace rock. i've seen it used in other tanks, i've read articles on making your own live rock. what do you think about lace rock.

I (myslef) would us lace rock.. but sometimes what they charge for lace rock you can almost buy live rock.. You could always us the rock you have now. Then wait for a while.. It seems like there is always someone on here selling live rock from time to time.

going to use rock already have than slowly add more, live rock not cheap. wife going to shoot me for spending money on new set up but hey thats what overtime is for. easy to slip in xtra inverts or fish but she really notice when i start adding more live rock. just got order from saltwaterfish.com got 2 sandsifting cucumbers and 2 tongan fighting conchs, 2 queen conchs, arrow crab, 3 green emerald crabs, 1 sand sifting starfish. before that i i had left was one other small sand sifter starfish, some snails, astrea's, cerith and nerite snails, maroon clown, percula, and pink spotted gobie, green serpent star, black brittle star, coral banded shrimp.
