Don't forget to get a couple of power heads. You will need these for circulation, and sand about 1-2# per gallon.

The Maxi Jet 1200 are very poplular and can be used with a wavemaker. They stop and start with no problem. Other units will not start consistently so you can have problems. The Maxi-Jets are very inexpensive.

Each of these questions posed can be answered by reading one of the above-mentioned books. Don't rush into things! Also, if you have access to a cheap water source, you might not need to spend the money on the RO/DI. Grocery stores have the RO machines where you can filll your own jugs. I found a good place w/ trustworthy water for $.37 a gallon.
