Looking forward to _______Drink________with all of you.

Hey, I just noticed you have been around since 1997, you're not a newbie, LOL. I'm gonna start a thread for the OG's to introduce themselves as well. Hopefully you can post there as well my friend as well as anyone else whom would like to make yourselves known.

Better still, if you or someone else would like to start it, go right ahead. I'll wait a while, N/P.

Hello, my name is Bill.

I've been a reefer for over 20 years.

My current system is a 30 Gallon Cube with a Sump and 250 watt MH lighting with Chaetomorpha in the sump/refugium. I have approximately 30lbs of live rock and a bunch of assorted zoanthid.

I joined RC because a friend asked me to check it out and to flame everyone on this new site. I soon found out that it was a great site and didn't want to start trouble. This was a disappointment to a friend of mine that wanted to stir trouble here, but I convinced him otherwise. Which was a good thing, he bought the site a year later and made it what it is today, with the help of a lot of good people.

Cheers,

Hello, my name is Greg

I've been a reefer for about 9 months now.

My current system is a 55 gal with a 20g sump, PC lighting.

I joined RC for the information available from others and to get more ideas for my tank. I am a member of my local club but can always use more information.

I purchased my tank in July of 2010 from a lady that had it running for 3+ years. She was getting a div and moving and had not been taking care of it. I had wanted one for years and this was the right opportunity. Although I always wanted one I really didnt know jack about SW when I bought it.

Mostly softies, a couple SPS frags starting and some LPS.

A few pics....

When I bought the tank after a MAJOR cleaning.

Thanks Greg, welcome to the zoa forum. I see you're not shy about posting, that's great man. Welcome again.

I learned from my local club that if you dont put up some pics by your second post they harass you until you do...lol

No requirements here for pictures, just share what you're comfortable with sharing. We're just glad to have you here, I think that's more important than anything.

Hey, wow, totally missed this one when I posted in the other intro thread last night.

Hi, I'm Kevin, or xaos, and sometimes "hey, you!". I'm 32 years old, and have had aquariums (all fresh to this point) for a whole two decades now.

I've been interested in/intimidated by reefing for years and finally decided to take the plunge when I had to tear down my 90g planted FW tank because my poorly-made DIY stand was splitting. Right now I'm in the research/planning/oh-my-god-I-need-money-now phase of tank development :D

My soon (and I'm finding "soon" has a whooole different meaning in reefkeeping) to be system will be a 90g (48x18x24) w/ 29g sump, SRO XP2000 skimmer, and T5 lighting

I joined RC because it's the biggest concentration of reefing knowledge and experience on the web without the elitist attitude that a lot of sites seem to have. And, given that FW keeping has taught me that knowledge is pretty much everything when it comes to managing an aquarium, it seemed like a pretty solid idea to sign up.

My plans are to eventually have a nice happy reef that's largely populated with zoanthids, ricordea, and LPS (I've always loved hammer corals), and maybe a few SPS colonies on the "peaks", so to speak, someday. I guess that's called a "mixed reef", but I tend to think of it more in terms of "zoas with some other stuff to make nice shapes", because zoanthid tanks have always been my favorites to look at pictures of :)

I look forward to posting the eventual build thread, and sharing the joy of progress, learning, and growth with all of you.

 Welcome again Kev. I hope you know you made a lot of friends with that comment you made up above. :D

Looking forward to all you have to share.

Sadly, it looks as if there's just one numbskull going through every thread and quoting a random post without adding anything in order to get his post count up :mad2: Can't read the dang forum because I don't know what's *actually* got new posts :(

And as you're aware, that's what the report function is for.

:bounce3: I bet there's a newbie out there just jumping up and down to introduce him/herself. :bounce3:

Guess its time for me to stop lurking around and say hi! My name is Kenny and I have kept freshwater aquariums for a few years now , but I recently moved into the world of brackish water. That not being enough its time for the full SW plunge. I have recently purchased a 125gallon setup which I am going to house my 60gallon acrylic spare as a sump under. I will have 2xT5 36inch fixtures, a wet/dry filter which I will probably turn into a fuge instead, skimmer, alpine 1500gph pump and a few koralia evolutions.Once my LFS guy finishes drilling and plumbing it I am gonna cycle that bad boy up. I plan on keeping softies, zoas ,and shrooms so if anyone has links to any useful info about lighting (which is my biggest concern, its very hard to track down solid info on the subject) please pm me!

Yeah, a convert.:D Welcome Kenny. Much respect and the slow and gradual move towards SW. I've providing a good link on MH's if you should choose that route.

Also, doing a quick search to the right will yield tons of lighting info which might help you. Again, welcome mate and if I can help in any way, just shoot me PM.

Hello. PinkDamsel here. I'm a reefing - and aquarium - newbie, and come to learn.

I have a 3 gallon pico at my office, now 8 months old. Ceramic rock. Started w. 9w CF then upgraded to a PAR 30 LED. Feed & 100% WC every week.

Livestock is zoas/palys, shrooms, anthelias, cloves, duncan, candy cane, mini-mini carpet anemone, pompom crab, snails. Am hoping to grow out the zoa & paly frags into nice, large colonies.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

I'll bite... Had a fowlr several years ago which I wanted to convert to a reef, but other things got in the way and wound up taking it down. Between my first scuba dive and a trip to the Shedd aquarium last year the urge to set up another sw tank took over. Took forever to assemble some of the stuff, but it happened.

Specs:
20 high
175 watt mh - 20k XM bulb, will be adding 15w T8 actinic in a couple of weeks.
RKL with sl1 and pH probe
2 korallia 425
BRS 4 stage ro/di
Prism protein skimmer... I know, I know... It was left over, and a way I was able to convince myself to set this up. Pulling out a lot though considering there is so little bioload. Plans for replacement if need be.

Tank is going on almost 5 months now, but without fish. Hope to rectify that situation
soon with a pair of ocellaris or percula clowns, and maybe a goby. Corals include 4 different types of zoas, and a ricordia. Nothing special, but nothing ugly. Can't say for certain as I am not taking polyp surveys, but it does appear that they are reproducing.

Toodles!
