Lol....
waiting for pic to back up your statement.
And thanks for the tips above. So higher alk?
I used to have it closer to 9 and was then reading that things seem to do better a bit lower.
I would suggest target feeding specific sps with your pumps off. I started feeding regularly my spa and color and growth have responded amazingly. Feed 2-3 times per week and see what it does foe you.
Lol....
Hi Dennis
I believe a lower Alk is more suitable if you are carbon dosing, not 100% sure why though.
higher alk and low nutrients would cause burned tips.
burned tips are skeleton of corals growing faster than coral can make tissue to cover it.
HTH,
ill help you out
nice growth, thats for sure SPS heavy and growing out of water.

I've heard this explanation before, but it doesn't make sense to me. Corals grow by precipitating CaCO3 within their tissue. The skeleton can't grow ahead of the tissue. Maybe the tissue is receding for some reason, or it simply appears absent due to lack of pigment?
I just started this tank and getting 1/2 inch a month of growth. I have 40 sps in a 30 gallon. How many do you have?
For a "non established tank" I'm doing just fine.
I don't see how showing my initial tank pics is helping out the OP but thank you. I love seeing my tank.
what do you feed? i feed oyster egg daily but i pour them right infront of my wavemaker which will blow it to my sps directly.
