nUgZ's 40 Breeder

I added a Koralia 3 yesterday. It definitely added some needed flow! It's an extra 850 gph and I love it. I'm still playing with placement, but I hope to have it figured out soon.

So what do you have for flow now?

I currently have an Aquaclear 110 HOB modified as a refugium dialed back to about 300gph, a Maxi-Jet 1200 at 295gph, a Koralia 3 at 850gph, and a Koralia Nano at 240 gph. It's kind of pieced together, but it's a little over 42 times an hour turnover and will do until I get another Koralia. The new ones will work on a wavemaker, so I may get two more...we'll see.

I've read on here a few times about them. have you seen any pictures or pricing?

I have...here is a quote from the company.

"The Koralia Evolution comes in three sizes, the 750, 1050 and 1400. We renamed the units according to their flow rates. These three models will replace the old Koralia 2, 3 and 4 respectively. Compared to their older versions, the new Koralia Evolutions are smaller, consume even less electricity and have higher flowrates. We also redesigned the cover and made several improvements to the mount. The cover now has tabs and clicks in place rather than twisting on. We added rubber shocks to the base in order to reduce vibration and make the pumps almost silent. We also made the mounting pin stronger. My favorite improvement of all is in the impeller and what it now allows the pump to do.

The Koralia Evolutions feature a "Shaftless Impeller" like the Magnum Koralias. The impeller rides on bushings, greatly reducing the friction and vibration during operation. This ultra-quite impeller and improved motor allows the Koralia Evolutions to be used on any wavemaker you desire. Thats right, the new Koralias are designed to run on wavemakers and timers and they operate almost completely silent. There isn't the loud rattle on start-up anymore.

The Koralia Evolutions should start selling in the next week or two. Also, the Koralia Evolutions should sell for just a few dollars more than their older counterparts."

Another quote...

"The Koralia 1 got the biggest overhall. The Koralia 1 is now the Nano 425. It is the same size as the Nano but with more flow than the Koralia 1, 425gph. It also uses less than 4 watts. This little beast should be very popular with the Nano crowd."

I would imagine any LFS that sells the current Koralia's should be able to order the new ones any day now...

2 k2's and a k3 in my 40 no dead spots

Thanks Dave. I think what I'll do is grab two of the new Koralia 750's and run them on a wavemaker with this K3 running all the time. Actually depending on how I like the new Koralia's I may sell the K3 I have and get 3 750's or 2 750's and a 1050 to run on the wavemaker. We'll see what happens.

I tried to clean up the sandbed. Everything that's left there will be sold for the most part. I need to get a new bulb soon. I don't like the 10k look. With that said, here are a few more pics.

I'll start with a couple FTS's.
