Nuuze's 79G SPS Reef

very very nice!
Somehow that frag rack has to go ! lol
Truly great setup-I wish i would have stumble across that light setup before I did mine.

Every time I see an Elos tank, I kick myself for not paying attention in school. That system is sharp!!

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Warren, Yeah I still have most of the pieces I got from you. I lost a couple pieces when I was gone for a week for work out of town thanks to some turbos snails knocking them on to the sand. I get close ups tonight.

MarineGirl411, the Anthias and others are doing okay so far. Only thing is they all know when it’s feeding time, and if you take too long one of them usually says hurry up with a little splash.

gasman059, yeah, yeah, yeah. :D I'm still trying to get WAF (wife acceptance factor) to get a frag/prop tank or somehow figure out a way to keep the snails off the frags. But the snails do such a good job cleaning.

Nice

Nice system and great setup. How your coral doing with the new light? Did you get the Teco chiller yet? I got a replacement from Andy and I love it. The Teco chiller is about the same foot print but much short and it comes with the Euro look which matches your tank and equipment.

Let me know if you have a frag of that Lyng cap.

No I did not get the Teco, ipluu. I ended up upgrading the 1/10 JBJ to a 1/4 hp. They use the same plumbing so it was a quick swap of the input/output hoses. I very much wanted the Teco but right at the last moment when I was about to order from Andy I realized that the power cord comes out of the left side of the unit that would make it exposed for me because my hoses to the chiller come out to the left side of my tank. I did not want that and would of been unsafe with curious kids (My nephew and nieces) that are always over. But for the most part the 1/4 JBJ is holding up well. It comes on for 10-15 minutes at a time.

Tank looks awesome. I really like the light fixture.. The reason they call it a 120 is the length.. It is 120cm which should be about 4 feet...

Thanks Hiep! I'm still a noob camera guy trying different settings. I must say tank pics are one of the hardest to get like the eye can see.

Thanks Karl, so far the pieces I got from your are doing quite well including the first one the Leng Sy cap. I'll be posting more pics soon.

Awesome setup, I'm glad I decided to go with Elos for my system as well. I think it will be well worth the money.

Oh how about some more pics?

Looks awesome, but isn't there a way to make it an in-wall tank? What's on the other side of the wall behind the tank?

I usually clean my sump every 2-3 months with a rinse and inspect the pumps and float sensor.

Behind the wall is a smll hallway to the 3rd bathroom.

After reviewing some of my pics I think I need some help from all you SPS pros. Not all look too bad but some do not look as good as when I first got them. Maybe too high towards the light, too much flow, I'm stumped.

My parameters are always in the same range.
-Salinity 35ppt on Milwaukee MR100ATC refractometer calibrated with RO/DI
-Phosphate 0 Salifert, but I here the readings can be wrong
-Ammonia 0 Elos
-Nitrate 0 Salifert
-Nitrite 0-0.05 Red Sea
-Alk 7.7-8.0 Salifert and Elos
-Calcium 450 Salifert and Elos
-Magnesium 1290 Salifert
-Temp 78-81

In the beginning when the tank was first setup I was loosing color due to having barely any fish and feeding very little, maybe once a day. Corals colors seemed that they were fading. Once I started feeding a couple times a day and added more fish colors came back.

My photo period is 10 hours a day with 2-250w 10k BLV Nepturions, I'm currently not using the 4-54w actinics. Weekly water changes of 10 gallons, top off with RO/DI through kalk reactor. Circulation with 2 Tunze 6000's on interval 2, pulsing 3 seconds, interval 30 seconds driving the pumps 30-40% at night and 40-80% during the day.

My polyp extension is not as much since I ran out of pappone for the last two weeks, just made more. I usually pour a piece twice a week with some Seachem Reef Plus added. Size of the piece is the size of a half frag plug.

Besides that I add 90ml of 2 part from twopartsolution daily, alk in the AM and calcium in the PM.

Recently I added a Phosban reactor half filled with carbon and 1/8 cup of Phosban.

Now for some pics...
