Obsessed with designer clowns...

I just recently cycled my 28 gal jbj. My first fish(es) was a pair of these clowns. I would love to see everyone's snowflakes, Picasso, di Vinci and etc.

My clown pair. These are called Frostbite by some and Flurry by others. A. Ocellaris variation.

The XL Bubble tip I had almost ate the female clown. Had to literally pull her out of the anemone mouth. The anemone also stung the male so hard he got startled and tried jumping out of the tank. I saw it all go down. Good thing I had a lid on the tank. Needless to say I had to get rid of the anemone...gave it away for free.
But I might still put an anemone sometime soon again.

That picasso you had is awesome. I like the white on his face looks like war paint lol. What tanks do you have all those in? All with anemones?

The top pair are in a CADlights 34 gallon with a torch coral. They have an anemone but they don't use it

The Domino Pair are in a Nuvo 8 gallon with no anemone. They live in some flame algae

The picasso was in a 65 gallon with a large rose bubble tip anemone.

So they use the torch over the anenome? Was the torch introduced first?

Yeah they do.

Actually the anemone was there first, but I think they like the torch better because it is bigger. I have had no luck with clowns associating with small anemones. Once they get some size the clowns seem to move in.

I have never seen wild caught Darwins for sale. So nice you were able to acquire them.

I bought these from two different sources; the female is a bali bought from a private breeder and the male was purchased from tank bred aquatics. PM me if you want the breeders info.

I don't think this is very sustainable or good advice. It's fine that you like them but captive bred is a very important part of our hobby and hopefully more fish will become captive bred in the future.
