Obsessed with designer clowns...

I don't think this is very sustainable or good advice. It's fine that you like them but captive bred is a very important part of our hobby and hopefully more fish will become captive bred in the future.

I totally agree. All of my clownfish (not just designers) have been captive bred.

Disagree. Been over this a million times elsewhere and don't feel like rehashing here.

I couldn't agree more why take a fish from the best possible situation (The ocean) and put him in a tank when you can get the exact same fish captive bred and not take fish from their homes we should do the most we can to prevent wild caught fish when we can buy captive bred. Btw captive bred are also Alot less prone to parasites

Here we go . . . They are not the exact same fish as you suggest. Many have gross aesthetic and functional deformities due to inbreeding and improper rearing and culling and these will only get worse over time. I can spot a captive bred clown from a mile away 99% of the time and trust me, that's not a good thing. Let's not even start with behavioral issues. There is just no substitute for the real deal.

Also, the purported threats to natural populations are exaggerated. Ocellaris and Percula clowns are still plentiful in the wild and the threat posed by collection for the aquarium hobby is minimal compared to that posed by habitat destruction, etc.

Please guys this thread isn't for arguing about breeding and such, it's about people showing off their amazing color schemes of their clowns. Those picassos Joshky are simply stunning. Keep em coming boys

I agree, let's stay on subject.

The picassos aren't mine, they are ocellaris123's. I only have platinums right now which I'm perfectly happy with, but I will be giving them to my older brother in the future when I get my 80g up. I've always wanted picassos. :)

I've always wanted picassos. :)

it's definitely worth going through a good, proven and reliable source if not dealing with local stores. Some breeders will demand a premium for clowns with deformities and charge you for shipping. Get as many close up videos as you can if buying online. Last thing you want is pay a lot of money plus shipping for clowns that should have not been raised in the first place.

There's a nice pair of bali aquarich in my LFS right now that I'm trying to get. The owner of them isn't sure if he's going to get back into the hobby, so they are holding them for him. I've been pestering the LFS to contact me first should they become available. ;) Hopefully I can get those and I don't have to worry about buying online.

Here is a decent pic of my Wyoming White I got a week ago now. Tank is a month old and had no interest in getting a clown but the wife fell in love with him at my LFS, and he really caught my eye too. He's a pretty cool little character.
