fishy_mcfish .. wow. were you looking for pieces that size? Looks big to me but then again that's realtive to my tank (26G but only 10: wide hahaha :)

Ocean pro is the best kept secret in Socal, I have purchased over 600 pounds of rock from them & I'm always surprised about the quality. My last case had one giant 44 pound rock in it!!!!! That's like the show size they usually charge twice as much for. Not at Ocean pro! Ask about the branch as well, I got a piece that is 2 feet by 3 feet and all pointy tips, killer product, killer service

No I wasnt look for big pieces...well at least not all big pieces....i only got 38 lbs and that came out to be about 10 or 12 rocks....i plan on getting some more though...maybe ill check out the branch stuff next time

ocean pro is for sure Socals best kept secret. i have also got 5 cases from them and have never been dissapointted. mike is great to deal with by the way.

mcfish,

What kind of rock is that? It looks great, but I'm only able to find base rock for that price on the wesite. Am I missing something?

Thanks.

No problem!
I picked mine up from them in person so im not sure how its shipped....im guessing with wet newspaper though because mine was put in a case and wrapped with wet paper......there number is in the link, give them a call and ask....

They ship using standard walt smith protocol-

Carboard outer with a plastic lining- the rock is moist and wrapped in plastic. The cases hold exactly what's in there so it's a nice tight fit.

The reason thier rock is so nice is that Mike has his guys down at LAX cherry picking cases up to twice a day! I have seen over 40 cases being shipped out in one ups pickup!!!! These guys do insane volume so they get the top picks. Mike is so picky that he won't buy the rock if it didn't come into the country that day-you just can't get any fresher.

These guys are awesome, they are the one place people like us can afford to get this quality of rock.

Well you guys have sold me on these rocks. The pictures you provided are just great, and the price cant' be beat! ANYWHERE!

Maybe either of you, or anyone really, can answer me this... when I go into the local lfs the L/R always just looks brown and drab. Does all rock do this during the curing process or something?

Also, I'm in Santa Barbara so a trip to Chino is like a 3.5 hour drive at least. I've never really ordered anything to be shipped to me, think if I req 2 day delivery it would really take more than 1 day to get here from LAX? Hell, the cost of gas would probably be the same as shipping.

Give Mike a call, he might be able to have you meet one of his guys out at lax. I think ups ground could get it to you in 24 hours (check online chino 91710)

All rock loses some color during curing. If the rock was fresh it will have more coraline & pods when it finishs curing. Also, it takes less time to cure so more color stays.

Dang! This place has been the best kept secret as I had planned all along to get my new lr there once I get my new tank up if I ever do. Now that the word is out, my luck, the prices will go up!

those prices have been rock bottom low for the last 6 months+

Mike sells hella volume so we get to enjoy the benefits

You guys can tell him Charles sent ya *wink wink*

just ask for ups ground......its a one day gurantee from chino to you...i know im in the shipping and receiving business ;)
