its going to get expensive to have that custom tank made, but at least that way i will know what all tree sides are made of.

I wounder if they would refund people who bought the tank sold as "three sides starfire" when it turns out they are not?

I can't remember a single post, on this thread or any other, where anyone claimed that "they were told" that all three sides were starfire (if my memory serves me). If anyone has been told this, please speak up!! There's been much conjecture and some pictures "claiming" that three panes were starfire, but this was all by people owning these tanks already.

I'm going to pick up my tech 120 today. Im going to check the serial number before I lay out the money for it. I dont care about the sides, but the front better be starfire. They want to much money otherwise.

You can call Oceanic and find a local dealer....

Ok guys, took the truck and picked up the 120 tech. Checked the serial number and made the LFS call and check when the tank was made. Both indicated the tank was made in wisoncsin and it did infact have the starfire glass front. You can pretty much tell if its starfire from the difference in color of the glass.

Yeah she is a heavy one. But thats what I love about oceanic, they biuld their aquariums are built like tanks (the kind of tank the army uses not fish tank). No pun intended

Im planing on using a mag 18. Supposedly after runing the numbers through the RC head loss calculator, the mag 18 only puts out 707 gph. The eheim 1260 has half the initial flow like 900 gph, so I don't think its adequate but I could be wrong.

AD91158- what type of trim did your tech tank come with people had been saying that some were showing up with all-glass trim. i just ordered mine the other day and now im wondering if i should have waited.

The trim on mine is definatly more fancy than all-glass. Im lookin at my all glass 65 and the 120 side by side and the 120 oceanic has the nicer kind.

I believe you'll find that you get the "nice" trim because of the timeframe you've ordered. I picked up my 120 Tech back in March and got the nice trim.

rarelyseen,

Make sure you check the small, white tag UNDER the bottom glass, before you run your card or write a check!!! This tag has the last name of the person who made the tank, and underneath that is a "date of manufacture" code. Mine was K1106W4 (meaning my tank was made last November 2006, in the 4th quarter..."K" is the 11th letter of the alphabet, meaning the 11th month, i believe).
