Oceanic Tech Tank Owners Thread

Still waiting to get the call on my 90. Unfortunately I still feel a little unsure of getting a tank that's 25" tall. I wish they made a tech 75 with a 4 foot length.

Purebullet, what did you pay for your tank and stand if you don't mind my asking? I'm selling my larger tank and debating what to do with my 37. Doing all the custom stuff I was considering may cost as much as the 45 tech tank.

I think I was quoted 1100 for the 45 tank/stand/Oceanic sump/250w Coralife Aqualight pro 250w HQI.

JGross - wanna build me a sump/resivoir - yours is bad ***!

Building is the funnest part. Still in progress, 70g...

KMP,

That is a cool way to use the holes in the eurobracing for return lines!

What type of fans are those at the back of the tank? Are they just computer fans or is that some type of unit that you purchased?

Thanks. I think I'm going to have a 37 built in low iron glass and have the overflow drilled on the back so I can use my current stand. Going over the build threads on the Tech 45, my custom sump won't fit through the stand doors on the Tech.

J3REEF, is that a Blackhawks jersey I see on the stairs wall?
I believe I may go Bare Bottom as well with my 120.
Joe

In the cabinet base.

All my wet works is plumbed through the wall into a work room, so I have nothing under the tank except power management.

BTW - The Solaris is totally sweet.

Cloud cover, manual adjustments, debug, solar timer, LED output adjustments,etc.etc.etc.etc.

ah, I am debating on where to put mine. I would like to mount them in the cabinet, but not 100% sure yet. for now they will sit next to my stand on either side. Yeah the feature set is pretty sweet, gotta love the 50% dim for cloud cover.

Joe,

Yes it is!

Autographed Karpovtsev Jersy.

Won it at a silent auction during one of my sons hockey tournements.

I think I bid $200 which wasn't too bad and it supports our hockey habit - 3 boys all played hockey over the years.

Tank is bottom bare until I cycle my rock.

Attempting to make it a bit easier in cleaning all the junk falling off the LR. I am planning to add substrate at some point, still not sure what kind/color/quantity.

What a fun time watching rock cycle :eek1:

Awesome. I wonder how long you'll have to wait for a Cup? Or myself, hoping for a Bruins Cup?

What grain size of sand will you be using for DSB? SSB?

Thanks,

Joe

No, Larry, I hadn't. It looks like the right mix % of particle sizes for NNR, but I just don't know about their claims of cycling ability. I also would think a DSB for NNR would need to be ~ 4" to 5" for optimum reduction (but that's just me).

Joe

yeah, the cycle thing is "their word" I plan on doing a 2-3" sb in the display, and a 5" DSB in my fuge.

LFS had a 40lb bag that he recommended I put into my fuge during cycle.

I have about ~3 to 4 inches in the fuge and may add any left over sand that I have when I add substrate to my main tank.

I really like the look and all the goodies that came along - rocks, shells, etc. The big stuff was rubble from my LR :-)
