there's nothing under it now, but I am planning an SPS dominated tank. I have see SPS growth under the 250, and I have seen SPS under my 400 for about 2 hours. It looked really good. but only time will tell.

It was my sps 90G Larry put his 400W Solaris on during a local club meet at my place last weekend. It was definitely the best colors I have seen in my tank for sure. Get that tank up and running Larry so we can see what it can do for growth!

we are getting there. I got my Eheim 1262 yesterday, along with some sweet frags from scott for the 7. My vortech should be in this week, and so should our 370# of marco rock. Then I will build out my structures, set the rock up to be cured and filled with pods and other goodies, and then we are off.... :D

Hey MarineGirl411,

I picked up my 120 tech during a sales @ my local LFS.

Product reps onsite and the LFS was passing on his cost to his customers. I waited several months for the sale and several weeks for delivery, but feel I received a great price of $750.00 on the tank. I picked up a AGA stand at LFS cost as well.

Not sure if every LFS has same cost, but at the time $750 on the tank I wanted sounded like a good deal.

I support my LFS with additional purchases, but even if the prices was ~800, I would not have a big issue with the additional few bucks going his way. Tough biz running a LFS with all the online comp. He cuts me a deal every now and then as well - extra rock, frag, cleanup crew price, etc., so support your LFS and they will support you ;-)

I have the 45 Tech and i use a ten gallon sum for my skimmer and two pumps. I use a aquafuge HOB that works really well and produces lots of pods which then empty directly into left side of tank. That way fish are getting good supply of natural food. I have the 250watt halide coralife setup and it works great. Fans a little loud but that could be replaced if you were sensitive to it. I use a 12k reeflux de bulb which to me is perfect. By the way i run the feed pump for the fuge out of the overflow so it's not exposed in the tank... I would get a 15gallon for sump as when you turn power off for cleaning or water changes it does fill the ten gallon almost to the top because of outlets being a few inches under the water level in tank. If i get some free time i'll post...

I agree, We are very big into supporting our LFS. My LFS will go the extra mile, and he is very knowledgeable. Plus most of the things I can get online, he can get, and by the time I pay for shipping it's a wash. Even a few bux more, i don't mind. When I had my 7g crash because of zoa eating nudi's he gave me 10g of water from his display tank to do a 100% WC. how may web sites can do that? you know. :D

Here is the Oceanic 45 Tech Reef Tank. You can just barely see the top of aquafuge light behind the coralife halide fixture like i talked about above. My 10 gallon sump has a hole cut for auto top off as you can see in sump pic. I have chiller and RO all hiding behind tank.

Do they make these things in anything larger than a 120, looking for a 180 and there web site is horrible. You can't find anything about these tanks on there.

Personally, I'd steer clear of any lighting with the "Coralife" name on it. I've had nothing but problems with them and have heard the same from many others. I have the Tech 120 and bought the Outer Orbit 250 watt HQI w/ T-5's (48 inch).

I agree. I don't own a single product made by coralife.

Plus power compacts suck at supplementing metal halide.

I am thinking I will grab one of the following:

-Current USA Sunpod (2x250w 14k)
-Current USA Outer Orbit (2x250w + 2x54w T5)
-Giessemann Infinitie (2x250w + 4x54w T5)

Haven't decided how much I want to spend yet.

Might just have to do a little custom jobby with some 175w mh and vho's until I can afford one of the above.

Nice tank neverwouldof......

greenlm,

I would either go with the Current Outer Orbit Pro with 4x54watt T5's or the Giessemann :) You really want 4 T5's if you can get'em...

I have the Other Orbit Pro but I replaced all the lights with Geismann.....go figure....

? for those that have used the holes in the Euro Brace as returns. I currently have a manifold running the parimeter of the tank, but would like to utilize these holes instead. Does anyone know the size bulkhead that will fit, and/or any other ways of doing it?

Thanks!

I don't think you'd want to use a bulkhead. It would be much easier just to run a pipe/hose through the hole.

Oceanic does make larger "Starphire" glass tanks. I'm planning on getting a 178 gallon and they also make a 215. They are called the "Ultimate" series, not the Tech Series. They both do use Starphire glass.

i want one of these tanks so bad! LFS quoted 950.00 for just the 120 tank. No stand. Is that a bad price? It seemed higher compared to others.

OC Aquatic in Orange County has one for about $760 sitting on the floor waiting for a new owner. Shop around, you should get a better deal.

There is no where to shop for one around here. =( there are 2 stores here. Wish I was over there to pick one up! Was the 760.00 for the 120 tech tank? Have any of you drilled them for a closed loop? The only drawback to these would be that. I really would hate to drill for one, but I love closed loops. I was going to use a closed loop with the Vortech.

Hey Larry! When do we get new pictures?!?! I want to see that Solaris, your new frags, and your Marco Rocks. I am going the Marco Rocks Route next time. I do not want to order LR again ever.
